NewsX organized a panel discussion titled 'Brand India- Shaping Our World' on Friday, 24thJune at New Delhi. The discussion moderated by NewsX's anchor Jujhar Singh highlighted and addressed key issues, and challenges to India's progress.

The discussion was marked by the presence of prominent panelists comprising of Prof. Kiran Walia, Hon'ble Delhi Minister for Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Anjolie Ela Menon, Contemporary Artist, Michael Ferreira, Former World Billiards Champion & Sudhir Mishra, Filmmaker & Screen Writer. The panelists heavily debated on the key issue of whether its time to evaluate Brand India or rather rebrand it after the country dropped five places from the Future Brand's annual Country Brand Index recently.

The panel also discussed the possible reasons behind why over the past few years, Brand India has witnessed an increased distortion in the absence of efforts to manage and develop its associations.

Anjoie Ela Menon blamed the ongoing wave of scams and corruption for the decline in the value of Brand India. The panelists were unanimous over the lack of civic sense playing an important role in the dropping image of the country. On the other hand Michael Ferreira described the IT & bollywood industry as the “good brand ambassadors” of the country while Sudhir Mishra emphasized on dance, music and handicrafts as areas that could be promoted.

The audience comprised of CEOs of various leading companies in India. The discussion combined with an interactive session of questions and answers provided an interesting insight on the way Brand India is shaping the world and the challenges which lay ahead.
