NYF 2011 Radio Awards Goes Green

BIG FM shortlisted in Green Promotion category from India this year; mobile app launched for Radio Awards.

New York Festivals® International Radio Program & Promotion Awards, honoring the World's Best Radio Programs™, goes green with an e-version of the 2011 Radio Awards program offered on a mobile app. Attendees of the 2011 Radio Awards Ceremony will be able to view this year's awards program on their phone or mobile device.   The 2011 ceremony takes place on Monday, June 20th at Manhattan Penthouse located at 80 5th Avenue (14th and Union Square).  To view the app: http://www.newyorkfestivals.com/rpshow/

This paperless program guide continues the green initiative launched at the2011 TV & Film Awards held in Las Vegas at the NAB Show.

“The NYF Radio Awards Green Promotion category salutes radio professionals whose promos for environmental issues enlists others to consider their own carbon footprint,” said Rose Anderson, Executive Director of New York Festivals Radio Program and Promotion Awards.

In 2011, the NYF Radio Awards showed its dedication to their Green Initiative by also launching a new Green Promotion category for environmental awareness campaigns. This year, India's Reliance Broadcast Network Limited 92.7 Big FM earned Finalist status in the preliminary judging round in the Green Promotion category for their promotion “Green Durga Pooja.”

The mobile app, designed by NYF will showcase information and updates from NYF's Executive Director about this year's competition.  The app will also include information about the 2011 award winners including: Broadcaster of the Year, United Nations Department of Public Information, Grand Trophy, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award winners.

The New York Festivals Radio Awards Ceremony will celebrate award winning radio entries from around the globe on Monday, June 20th.   The ceremony begins with a cocktail reception at 6pm, followed by a dinner/awards ceremony at 7pm.
