IRS Q1 2011: Top dailies in Chhattisgarh

Dainik Bhaskar continues to rule the state despite losing readers; Hari Bhoomi too loses readers.

publive-imageChhattisgarh has been a strong hold of Dainik Bhaskar but the daily has been losing ground in the state and over the past one year, it has lost 90,000 readers. In the first quarter of IRS 2011, it has lost 5% of its readers and recorded an AIR of 9.66 lakh as compared to 10.16 lakh in the previous quarter and 10.56 lakh in IRS Q1 2010.

The second largest read daily of the state Hari Bhoomi hardly seen any change in readership over the past one year. The paper has current AIR of 8.93 lakh as compared to 9.11 lakh in the previous quarter and 8.95 lakh in IRS Q1 2010.

At No.3 is Nava Bharat (Mah/Chh) which is still to revive from the losses over the last one year; however, the paper has grown by 2.7% readers in this publive-imagequarter. Its current AIR stands at 7.92 lakh as compared to 7.71 lakh in the previous quarter and 8.33 lakh in IRS Q1 2010.

The 4th largest read daily Nai Dunia + Nav Dunia has seen no change in IRS Q1 2011 over the last quarter. Its current AIR stands at 3.61 lakh as compared to 3.77 lakh in the same period of last year.

At No.5 is Dainik Jagran with 39,000 readers in IRS Q1 2011 as compared to 43,000 in Q1 2010.

The Times of India remains at No.6 by adding 7,000 readers in the current survey. Its current AIR stands at 29,000 as compared to 22,000 in the last quarter and 26,000 in Q1 2010.

Economic Times and The Hindu are at 7th and 8th spot with 11,000 and 5,000 readers in IRS Q1 2011.
