Launches Book Donation Drive 2011 - An initiative to involve, engage and empower young minds.

June 15, 2011:

publive-imageZee Learn Gakken Science Academy and Education Times launched the 'Book Donation Drive 2011'. Navneet Anhal, Business Head, Zee Learn School Innovations gave the inaugural speech while Amole Gupte, Director and Actor of the critically acclaimed movie 'Stanley Ka Dabba' donated the first set of books.  This initiative aims to involve young minds and attempts to engage them by inculcating the joy of sharing. This noble endeavour will help education percolate to the lower most strata of society and empower the young minds.

Shoppers Stop and Crossword will be the official collection center for this two week 'Book Donation Drive' which will culminate on June 29, 2011.  Books collected during this drive will be segregated in various categories i.e.  Notebooks, Textbooks, Storybooks and other reading material will be distributed through United Way Mumbai's strong network of NGO affiliates.

Speaking at the occasion Amole Gupte, Director and Actor of critically acclaimed movie 'Stanley Ka Dabba' said “Simple things like these perpetuate one step at a time. I have worked with children who are non privileged; they are financially, physically and mentally challenged. Their education is not on the agenda of the adults. They live in extreme poverty, I have been trying to run classrooms which tries to share knowledge on cinema, literature and arts. This route of trying to empower kids with education in art and culture will sow the seeds of these children being an artist instead of laborers. Book's are a route to empower children and could play a great role in molding their future.”

While speaking about this initiative Navneet Anhal, Business Head, Zee Learn School Innovations said “We at Zee Learn have always thrived to improve Human Capital through quality education and development. Through the Book Donation Drive, we will reach out to the lesser privileged strata of the society whom we work with, directly or indirectly, leading to the development of the nation. The drive will not only help to improve knowledge, but will also raise awareness amongst the masses about the fundamental right of every child to have access to elementary education”.

Ajay Govale, Program Director, United Way of Mumbai "Education is one of the key focus areas for United Way of Mumbai and our goal is to provide education for all. The Book Donation Drive is a unique initiative to bridge the gap between the Have's and Have Not's in the community and it is our greatest pleasure to partner with the Education Times in this noble cause.”

Education Times is a pioneer in launching youth -centric campaigns that are relevant to the academic fraternity at large. The Book Donation Drive is part of its 16th Anniversary celebration.
