publive-imageIndia is a melting pot of customs and traditions and nothing better reflects the multicultural ethnicity of our country than our festivals. As the entire nation gears up for the joyous celebrations of Eid, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dusshera and Diwali, CNN-IBN and IBN7 bring you some exclusive programs from September 11, 2010 till Nov 5 2010. This initiative promises to take viewers on a colorful sojourn sharing tips for shopping, guiding them through myriad rituals and most importantly, alerting them on all the security procedures.

CNN-IBN and IBN7 has kicked off the exclusive series with a special coverage of the Eid celebrations at Jama Masjid. The Eid programming will be followed by specials on Ganesh Utsav showcasing the various pandals and temples in Mumbai, but also provide viewers a sneak peek into the festival celebrations at celebrity homes.

publive-imageKeeping the spirit of festivities in high momentum, the channels will celebrate the victory and homecoming of Goddess Durga by telecasting live all the activities of the most revered temples and pandals in Kolkata throughout the days of Durga Puja. In the wake of the pious occasion of Dussehra, IBN7 will also cover Ram Leela and Dussehra celebrations from across the country from October 8th – 17th.

Moving on from religious festivals the channels will focus on Karwa Chauth, highlighting all preparations, shopping involved and giving viewers a peek into the lives of celebrity wives preparing for the occasion. For Diwali, the festival of lights, both the channels will focus on how India celebrates Diwali as a nation. Also, with the intent of putting a conscience to the festival, the channels will initiate a campaign via online media and SMS against fireworks and the pollution it causes.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, IBN18 Network said, “The beauty of being an Indian is that our culture is enriched with diverse faiths and traditions. Through the Utsav programming, we wish to put forth the true image of India, which is a country where our unity is reflected through the enthusiasm and vibrancy with which we celebrate each of our festivals.”

Speaking on the special programming Ashutosh, Managing Editor, IBN7 “Utsav programming will bring you the sparkle of revelry through the length and breadth of the country so that no matter where you are, the constant reminder of cultural brotherhood and solidarity does not escape you.”
