Ipsos strengthens India team with acquisition of GfK’s four global divisions

Adds 20 GfK staff across Ipsos India offices

Ipsos India has announced that the acquisition of four divisions of GfK Research by Ipsos globally has fortified its position in the Indian market with access to enhanced capabilities in customer experience, innovation experience, health and public affairs.

“The strategic acquisition of four divisions of GfK, ties-in with our global strategy of providing deeper understanding of society, markets and people, riding on intensive specialisation in services, and reinforces Ipsos’ image as the largest research provider globally. And it adds to similar specialties already available in the Ipsos bouquet of capabilities and enhances our intensity of offerings,” said Amit Adarkar, CEO, Ipsos India.

A total of 20 staff members are joining Ipsos in India and are undergoing induction training for seamless transfer. They will be joining Ipsos India’s research offices in Mumbai, Gurugram and Bengaluru.

Effective October 1, the Paris headquarters of Ipsos acquired four global divisions of GfK Custom Research Business including Customer Experience, Experience Innovation, and Health and Public Affairs. The global acquisition involves 26 markets that are in the scope of the agreement with GfK including Australia, China, India, Japan and Singapore in the Asia Pacific region. Close to 1000 GfK professionals are slated to join Ipsos.

The GfK Custom Research divisions moving to Ipsos are: 

  • Customer Experience: This division includes all GfK research services globally, both quantitative and/or qualitative, related to: research on understanding and advising on customer satisfaction and loyalty; research on understanding and advising on employee satisfaction and loyalty; and mystery shopping services;

  • Experience Innovation: This division includes all GfK research services globally, both quantitative and/or qualitative in nature, related to: innovation research, including stage/front end innovation, concept testing, pack testing, product testing and volumetrics; car clinics; the business known as NORM, focused on virtual reality technology in the areas of shelf, store and product simulation; and user experience research, design and consulting;
  • Health: This division includes all GfK research services globally, both quantitative and/or qualitative in nature, related to research on behalf of: pharmaceutical and bio-tech companies; medical and healthcare technology companies; and companies engaged in consumer healthcare;
     
  • Public Affairs: This division includes all GfK research services globally, both quantitative and/or qualitative in nature, related to research on understanding societies, public opinion and corporate reputation; the Knowledge Networks panels are part of the Public Affairs division and represent a strategic asset that Ipsos would like to capitalise on.
