Star Plus has reclaimed the No. 2 spot in U+R markets while Sony Entertainment Television re-entered at No. 9

GEC Watch: Zee Anmol, Star Plus retain leadership; Sony returns to the top-10 club

While Zee Anmol led the U+R and rural markets’ list in Week 35 of 2018 (August 25-31), Star Plus grew significantly and climbed to the No. 2 position in U+R. Sony Entertainment Television re-entered at No. 9. As per BARC India data, Star Plus continued its leadership in the urban markets.

Among the most-watched shows’ list, Sony Sab’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltaah Chashmah entered the top shows’ lists in the U+R and urban markets. The rest of the top performers remained the same, with an entry of Dance Deewane once again in the urban list.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 35 of 2018 (August 25-31) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol remained at the leadership position in the U+R markets with 699.774 million (last week 805.449 million) Impressions. Star Plus jumped to No.2 with 650.282 million (last week 642.423 million) Impressions. At No. 3, Star Bharat grabbed 624.084 million (last week 653.136 million) Impressions. Star Utsav slipped to No. 4 spot garnering 617.438 million (last week 672.076million). Sony Pal grabbed No. 5 spot clocking 589.461 million (last week 587.936 million) Impressions, climbing two spots. Zee TV gained marginal numbers to stay at the No. 6 spot in this week too, clocking 587.456 million (last week 598.974 million) Impressions followed by Colors, which stood at the No. 7 spot, garnering 572.774 million (last week 578.653 million) Impressions. Rishtey stayed at No. 8 position with 489.549 million (last week 515.872million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television replaced Dangal at No. 9 by clocking 487.858 million (last week 455.355 million) Impressions. Sony Sab stayed at the trailing end at No. 10, clocking 473.572 million (last week 471.094million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

Colors’ Naagin-3 clocked 13.612 million (last week 15.528 million) Impressions, leading the most-watched programmes’ list in the U+R segment. Zee Anmol’s Kundali Bhagya sprang up to No. 2 garnering 12. 245 million (last week 12.553million) Impressions. As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya grabbed the third spot with 12.205 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlaata Hai came next by clocking 11.421 million (last week 10.994million) Impressions. At No. 5, Sony Sam’s Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma garnered 10.323 million impressions.

Top channels in urban markets

Star Plus continued to be at the top spot in Week 35 in the urban markets with 442.142 million (last week 452.933 million) Impressions, despite losing numbers. Colors in turn gained close to 17 million Impressions staying at No. 2, garnering 417.313 million (last week 400.613 million) Impressions. Zee TV, meanwhile, at No. 3 clocked 356.511 million (last week 355.705 million) Impressions, followed by Sony SAB at No. 4 that clocked 352.806 million (last week 330.276 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television, at No. 5, grabbed 349.049 million (last week 340.689 million) Impressions. At No. 6, Star Bharat garnered 309.917 million (last week 295.310 million) Impressions. Star Utsav at No. 7 garnered 191.798 million (last week 202.136 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Pal that stood at No. 8 with 171.388 million (last week 178.308 million) Impressions. Colors’ Dance Deewane climbed to No. 3 with 7.451 million (last week 6.655 million) Impressions. As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya was at the fourth spot in the most-watched shows’ list by clocking 7.368 million (last week 7.529 million) Impressions in the urban market. Sab’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was at the last spot with 6.983 million Impressions.
