In the urban markets, Star Plus has closed in the gap with Zee TV as the two channels are approximately 0.7 million away from each other

GEC Watch: Zee Anmol leads U+R and rural markets, Colors tops urban

Colors has maintained its leadership in the Hindi general entertainment channels (GEC) in the urban markets in the Week 28 of 2018 (July 7-13) on the back of Naagin-3. Zee Anmol held its position at No. 1 in the rural and U+R markets while Zee TV was a No. 2 in all three segments.

In the urban markets, Star Plus has closed in the gap with Zee TV as the two channels are approximately 0.7 million away from each other. Amongst the top shows, nothing has changed much except that Colors’ Dance Deewane has exited both urban and U+R lists.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 28 of 2018 (July 7-13) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol stayed at the top spot in the U+R markets, despite loss in numbers, with 651.719 million (last week 698.822 million) Impressions. Zee TV, stuck to No. 2 with 577.951 million (last week 614.367 million) Impressions. Sony Pal at No. 3 position, clocked 551.727 million (last week 552.330 million) Impressions. Star Bharat, climbed back to No. 4, garnering 541.652 million (last week 545.871 million) Impressions. Colors, followed with 538.323 million (last week 552.010 million) Impressions. Star Utsav was at the sixth spot garnering 504.288 million (last week 508.738 million) Impressions, followed by Star Plus, at No. 7 with 493.095 million (last week 487.574 million) Impressions. Rishtey that lost viewership at No. 8 position, stood with 429.347 million (last week 445.400 million) Impressions. Sony SAB continued at No. 9 with 410.532 million (last week 401.353 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television stayed at No. 10 by clocking 407.029 million (last week 362.280 million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets 

Colors’ Naagin-3 clocked 13.910 million (last week 14.374 million) Impressions, leading the most watched programmes list in the U+R segment. As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, while Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya came in next with 11.695 million (last week 11.066 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya became the third most watched show by clocking 11.173 million (last week 9.903 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya was at No. 4 that clocked 10.726 million (last week 11.488 million) Impressions. At No. 5, Zee TV’s Ishq Subhan Allah clocked 9.851 million Impressions.

Top channels in urban markets

Riding on the back of the third season of its most popular franchise Naagin, Colors stayed put at the top spot garnering 374.843 million (last week 387.909 million) Impressions. Zee TV continued to be on the second spot in the urban markets, in the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) ranking, with 345.909 million (last week 376.973 million) Impressions. Star Plus stayed at the No. 3 spot in the urban markets with 345.266 million (last week 343.638 million) Impressions. Sony SAB, at No. 4, that clocked 300.846 million (last week 307.607 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television, stayed on No. 5 spot with 298.959 million (last week 267.800 million) Impressions. At No. 6, Star Bharat garnered 256.610 million (last week 264.543 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Pal stood at No. 7 with 174.068 million (last week 168.886 million) Impressions. Star Utsav at No. 8 garnered 158.089 million (last week 156.645 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol slipped to No. 9 with 148.372 million (last week 154.937 million) Impressions. Rishtey was at the last spot by clocking 122.820 million (last week 128.602 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in urban markets

Colors’ Naagin-3 was the most watched show in the urban markets with 9.258 million (last week 9.916 million) Impressions. As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, followed by Sony Sab’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma that clocked 7.228 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya stayed at the third spot in the most watched shows list, by clocking 7.074 million (last week 6.671 million) Impressions in the urban market, followed by Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya with 6.779 million Impressions. At No. 5 was Zee TV’s Ishq Subhan Allah which has garnered 6.283 million (last week 6.038 million) Impressions.

Top channels in rural markets

Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 503.347 million (last week 543.886 million) Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 2 in rural markets garnering 377.659 million (last week 383.445 million) Impressions. Star Utsav stuck to the No. 3 position garnering 346.199 million (last week 352.093 million) Impressions. Rishtey was at No. 4 position with 306.527 million (last week 316.799 million) Impressions. Star Bharat, at No. 5 in the rural markets recorded 285.042 million (last week 281.329 million) Impressions. Dangal, at No. 6, clocked 244.443 million (last week 232.047 million) Impressions. Zee TV slipped to No. 7 with 232.042 million (last week 237.395 million) Impressions. Big Magic followed with 167.892 million (last week 166.127 million) Impressions. Colors at No. 9 clocked 163.481 million (last week 164.101 million) Impressions. Star Plus, at No. 10, garnered 147.830 million (last week 143.936 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in rural markets

Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya was the most watched show in the rural market grabbing 8.595 million (last week 9.404 million). Zee Anmol’s Mehak stood next with 6.202 million (last week 7.144 million) Impressions followed by Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that clocked 6.198 million (last week 5.221 million) Impressions. Colors’ Naagin-3 stayed at the fourth spot in the rural markets gathering 4.652 million (last week 4.458 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya lists fifth with 4.621 million (last week 4.395 million) Impressions.
