GEC Watch: Zee TV claims the top spot in urban; Zee Anmol leads U+R and rural

While Rishtey grew significantly, Colors lost close to 50 million and lost ranking in all three segments. Star Plus too, marginally gained good numbers to climb up

In the Week 17 of 2018 (April 21-27), Zee TV gained significant numbers to climb to the top spot in the urban markets, while its sister channel Zee Anmol maintained lead positions in the U+R and rural markets. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya have gained huge numbers.

While Rishtey grew significantly, Colors lost close to 50 million and lost ranking in all three segments. Star Plus too, marginally gained good numbers to climb up.

Amongst the TV shows, other than Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya, Zee TV’s Ishq Subhan Allah and Star Bharat’s Jiji Maa performed quite well.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 17 of 2018 (April 21-27) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol stayed at the top spot in the U+R markets with 771.888 million (last week 714.895 million) Impressions, as Rishtey continued to gain viewership and further climbed to reach No. 2 position, with a gross viewership of 672.774 million (last week 626.201 million) Impressions. Star Bharat, hence, slipped to No. 3 with 638.431 million (last week 629.922 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at No. 4, clocking 605.469 million (last week 600.021 million) Impressions. Zee TV, climbed a spot at No. 5 and got 579.082 million (last week 506.179 million) Impressions. Star Utsav further slipped to No. 6 position garnering 513.800 million (last week 523.373 million) Impressions. Star Plus that climbed to No. 7 position with 456.054 million (last week 457.220 million) Impressions, was followed by Colors that slipped by one spot with 430.238 million (last week 494.038 million) Impressions. Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya was the most watched show which garnered 11.517 million (last week 10.331 million) Impressions, followed by Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya that stood at the No. 2 spot by clocking 11.218 million (last week 11.721 million) Impressions. Two other shows of Zee TV stood next – Ishq Subhan Allah and Kumkum Bhagya with 10.522 million (last week 8.276 million) Impressions and 9.315 million (last week 8.594 million) Impressions, respectively. Star Bharat’s Jiji Maa grabbed the fifth spot, gathering 8.121 million (last week 7.411 million) Impressions.

Top channels in urban markets

After a long time, Zee TV was listed at the top spot in the urban markets, in the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) ranking in the urban markets. The channel garnered 356.243 million (last week 314.519 million) Impressions. Star Plus maintained its position at the second spot in the urban markets with 322.890 million (last week 323.484 million) Impressions. Star Bharat garnered 313.377 million (last week 316.206 million) Impressions, staying put at No. 3. Slipping by three spots and losing almost 50 million Impressions, Colors garnered 305.628 million (last week 355.118 million) Impressions. Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood at No. 2 with 5.617 million (last week 5.434 million). Zee Anmol’s Ganga and Mehak stood next with 5.548 million (last week 5.501 million) Impressions and 5.059 million Impressions, respectively.
