GEC Watch: Sony Pal becomes the leader in combined U+R

In the respective urban and rural markets, Colors and Zee Anmol continued as leaders. The second season of Sony Entertainment Television’s dance reality show Super Dancer Chapter 2 has again entered in the top five shows’ list in the urban and combined U+R markets

In the Week 9 of 2018 (February 24 - March 2), Sony Pal has climbed to the top spot in the combined U+R markets, on the back of its gain in the rural markets. However, Colors and Zee Anmol remain the leaders in the urban and rural markets, respectively. Colors has lost significantly in both urban and rural markets.

The second season of Sony Entertainment Television’s dance reality show Super Dancer Chapter 2 has again entered in the top five shows’ list in the urban and combined U+R markets. Sony Pal’s CID too has re-entered the two lists.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 9 of 2018 (February 24-March 2) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Sony Pal climbed to the No. 1 position in the combined U+R markets in Week 9 of 2018, with 753.407 million (last week 679.385 million) Impressions. Star Bharat slipped to second spot with 750.429 million (last week 754.202 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol slipped to No. 3 with 682.244 million (last week 713.606 million) Impressions. Star Utsav climbed to No. 4 position garnering 530.012 million (last week 536.145 million) Impressions. Zee TV, slipped to No. 5 by clocking 522.300 million (last week 565.898 million) Impressions. Colors dropped numbers to slip to No. 6 with 488.058million (last week 552.352 million) Impressions. Star Plus was at No. 7 with 455.366 million (last week 520.154 million) Impressions. Rishtey remained at No. 8 with a gross viewership of 436.296 million (last week 482.384 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television too stuck to ninth spot by clocking 431.930 million (last week 445.319 million) Impressions. Sony SAB too remained at No. 10 with 404.767 million (last week 394.778 million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s spin-off show Kundali Bhagya grabbed the top spot with 12.537 million (last week 12.441 million). Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at No. 2 by clocking 11.610 million (last week 12.814 million) Impressions. Sony Pal’s CID grabbed the third spot with 10.014 million Impressions, followed by Sony TV’s Super Dancer Chapter 2 which got 9.817 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya grabbed 9.630 million (last week 10.903 million) Impressions, at No. 5.

Top channels in urban markets

Colors continued to lead the flock of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) in the urban markets, garnering 350.778 million (last week 399.880 million) Impressions. Star Bharat stood at the second spot and has clocked 347.669 million (last week 369.397 million) Impressions. Star Plus stayed at No. 3 in the urban markets with 316.171 million (last week 362.844 million) Impressions. Zee TV, too, remained at No.4 in the list of most-watched shows on Hindi GEC in urban markets, clocking 309.461 million (last week 341.273 million) Impressions. At No. 5, Sony Entertainment Television stood with 302.888 million (last week 321.253 million) Impressions, followed by Sony SAB that garnered 301.231 million (last week 291.464 million) Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 7 with 235.659 million (last week 222.432 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol came in next at No. 8 with 149.312 million (last week 152.106 million) Impressions. Sony Sab’s flagship show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma was at No. 2 on the list clocking 6.461 million (last week 6.975 million) Impressions, followed by Sony TV’s Super Dancer Chapter 2 that garnered 6.263 million Impressions, at No. 3. Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein clocked 6.206 million (last week 6.850 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya became the fifth most-watched show in urban markets with 5.750 million (last week 6.640 million) Impressions.

Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 532.931 million (last week 561.499 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya became the most watched show in the rural market grabbing 9.563 million (last week 10.656 million) Impressions. Next three spots were grabbed by Sony Pal’s Balveer, CID and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah with 7.117 million (last week 7.251 million), 6.914 million (last week 6.323 million) and 6.744 million (last week 6.600 million) Impressions, respectively. Zee Anmol’s Ganga grabbed the fifth spot with 6.012 million Impressions.
