GEC Watch: Star Bharat springs back to No. 1 in U+R

Colors and Zee Anmol continued to lead the urban and rural genres, respectively. Star Bharat’s show Nimki Mukhiya has earned good numbers and has entered the top shows’ list at No. 5, in U+R audience

Star Bharat reclaimed its top spot in the U+R combined markets, as per the data released by BARC India for the week 2 of 2018 (January 6-12). Zee Anmol, meanwhile, slipped to the second position in the combined markets, though it held on to the leading position in the rural markets. Colors too has continued to lead the urban markets.

Nimki Mukhiya of Star Bharat has earned good numbers and has entered the top shows’ list at No. 5, in U+R audience. Rest of the shows’ rankings remain almost the same.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 2 of 2018 (January 6-12) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Star Bharat climbed back to the top in the combined U+R markets with 713.443 million (last week 678.228  million) Impressions. In turn, Zee Anmol slipped to No. 2 with 674.543 million (last week 685.344  million) Impressions. Colors kept going at No. 3 position with 627.061 million (last week 598.060 million) Impressions. Zee TV is at No. 4 position garnering 571.781 million (last week 569.854 million) Impressions. Sony Pal is at the No. 5 spot with 561.707 million (last week 557.297 million) Impressions. Star Utsav slipped by two spots to stand at No. 6 garnering 532.146 million (last week 546.867 million) Impressions. Star Plus stayed at No. 7 with 501.448 million (last week 545.437 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television climbedto No. 8, clocking434.651 million (last week 455.178 million) Impressions. Rishtey slipped to the No. 9 position with a gross viewership of 421.999 million (last week 455.178 million) Impressions. Sony SAB remained at No. 10 with 401.334 million (last week 379.657 million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s spin-off show Kundali Bhagya and its original fiction Kumkum Bhagya grabbed the top two spots with 12.533 million (last week 11.181 million) and 11.275 million (last week 10.554 million) Impressions, respectively. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at No. 3 by clocking 10.676 million (last week 9.955 million) Impressions (last week 9.185 million). Star Bharat’s Kya Haal Mr Panchaal was at No. 4 with 10.036 million (last week 9.939 million) Impressions, followed by the channel’s Nimki Mukhiya that stood at No. 5 clocking 9.831 million in Week 2.

As the New Year starts, Colors continued to lead the flock of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) in the urban markets, garnering 457.653 million (last week 439.287 million) Impressions. Star Plus stood at No. 2 in the urban markets with 356.088 million (last week 385.880 million) Impressions. Zee TV was ranked as the third most-watched Hindi GEC in the urban markets clocking 346.290 million (last week 350.649 million) Impressions. Star Bharat stood at the fourth spot by clocking 341.721 million (last week 331.958 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Entertainment Television with 310.921 million (last week 297.308 million) Impressions. Sony SAB garnered 297.416 million (last week 286.626 million) Impressions, standing at No. 6. Sony Pal was at No. 7 with 176.742 million (last week 178.776 million) Impressions. Sony Sab’s dance reality show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma was third in the list clocking 6.872 million (6.961) Impressions.
