GEC Watch: Zee TV rules U+R; Colors continues to lead urban

The two fiction shows of Zee TV continued to lead in the urban and U+R markets. Colors show Tu Aashiqui entered the list in the urban flock at No. 5. Star Plus and Sony Entertainment Television maintained their rankings

In Week 48 of 2017 (November 25-December 1) of BARC India data, Zee TV claimed the top spot in the combined markets U+R, displacing its sister channel Zee Anmol, which slipped to No. 4. In the same ranking, Star Barat and Colors climbed up by one spot each, to take the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Colors continued to be at No. 1 in the urban markets while Zee Anmol was on top in rural.

As per select BARC India data for Week 47 of 2017 (November 25-December 1) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee TV climbed to No. 1 garnering 675.065 million (last week 653.961 million) Impressions. Star Bharat went up to No. 2 with 657.889 million (last week 630.865 million) Impressions. Colors too jumped a spot to No. 3 position with 649.192 million (last week 607.248 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol dropped to No. 4 with 612.946 million (last week 661.157 million) Impressions. Sony Pal continued at the fifth spot with 595.324 million (last week 580.171 million) Impressions. Star Utsav stayed at No. 6, despite dwindling numbers this week garnering 489.578 million (last week 505.333 million) Impressions. Star Plus stayed at No. 7 with 464.278 million (last week 480.000 million) Impressions. Rishtey at No. 8 clocked 421.112 million (last week 408.566 million) Impressions. Sony SAB climbed a spot to No. 9 with 420.114 million (last week 379.184 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television slipped to the last spot at No. 10 position with gross viewership of 383.014 million (last week 405.956 million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s spin-off show Kundali Bhagya and its original fiction Kumkum Bhagya grabbed the top two spots at No. 1 and 2 with 12.132 million (last week 12.816 million) and 11.383 million (last week 11.657 million) Impressions, respectively. Star Bharat’s Kya Haal Mr Panchal climbed up to No. 3 with 10.661 million (last week 8.935 million) Impressions.

Sony Pal’sBalveer stood at No. 4 with 9.616 million Impressions. Colors’ Tu Aashiqui grabbed the last spot with 8.693 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Colors continued to lead the flock of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) in the urban markets, garnering 466.430 million (last week 431.396 million) Impressions. Zee TV was ranked as the second most watched Hindi GEC in the urban markets clocking 404.079 million (last week 385.878 million) Impressions. Star Plus stood at the third spot in the urban markets with 328.260 million (last week 338.604million) Impressions. Star Bharat stood at the fourth spot by clocking 315.957 million (last week 299.488 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Sab garnering 315.719 million (last week 284.362 million) Impressions, followed by. Sony Entertainment Television continued at sixth spot with 273.799 million (last week 282.769 million) Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 7 with 185.728 million (last week 175.609 million) Impressions. &TV grew to No. 8 garnering 150.323 million (last week 150.056 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya became the second most watched show in the urban markets with 6.716 million (last week 7.109 million) Impressions. Sony Sab’s flagship property Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood third with 6.162 million (last week 6.166 million) Impressions. Colors’ Udaan grew to appea at No. 4 with 5.990 million (last week 5.172 million) Impressions. Colors' Tu Aashiqui entered at No. 5 clocking 5.845 million Impressions.

Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 464.035 million (last week 506.368 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at its No. 2 position garnering 409.596 million (last week 404.562 million) Impressions. Star Utsav stayed at No. 3 in rural markets garnering  362.520 million (last week 375.119 million) Impressions. Star Bharat continued to be at No. 4 spot in the rural markets recording 341.932 million (last week 331.377 million) Impressions. Rishtey too retained its No. 5 position with 308.601 million (last week 296.974 million) Impressions. Zee TV at No. 6 clocked 270.986 million (last week 268.082 million) Impressions. Dangal TV continued at No. 7 with 214.034 million (last week 205.820 million) Impressions. Colors stayed at No. 8 with 182.761 million (last week 175.852 million) Impressions. Big Magic followed at No. 9 with 161.346 million (last week 165.742 million) Impressions. Star Plus continued to be at No. 10 garnering 136.018 million (last week 141.395 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

Sony Pal’s Baalveer and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah switched places at the top of the flock with 6.277 million (last week 6.638 million) and 7.582 million (last week 6.574 million) Impressions, respectively.

STAR Bharat’s Kya Haal Mr Panchaal climbed up to No. 3 with 6.084 million Impressions. Next came Rishtey’sTere Naal Ishq at No. 4 with 5.187 million Impressions. STAR Utsav’s Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon-Ek Bar Phir came in fifth with 5.139 million Impressions.
