GEC Watch: Star Bharat continues to lead the U+R

The top performing shows remained mostly the same with Kya Haal Mr Panchaal and Super Dancer Chapter 2 among top shows. The urban and combined markets were led by Kundali Bhagya and Kumkum Bhagya from Zee TV

In Week 50 of 2017 (December 9-15) of BARC India data, Star Bharat, Colors and Zee Anmol continued to lead the U+R, urban and rural markets, respectively. However, Zee Anmol gained substantial numbers in both urban and rural markets and rose to No. 2 position in U+R markets.

The top performing shows remained mostly the same with Kya Haal Mr Panchaal and Super Dancer Chapter 2 among top shows. The urban and combined markets were led by Kundali Bhagya and Kumkum Bhagya from Zee TV.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 50 of 2017 (December 9-15) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Star Bharat continues to be the top spot with 684.322 million (last week 725.644 million) Impressions, despite a drop in numbers. Zee Anmol climbed up to No. 2 with 644.895 million (last week 611.444 million) Impressions. Colors slipped a spot up to reach No. 3 position with 620.815 million (last week 643.097 million) Impressions. Zee TV slipped to No. 4 garnering 575.064 million (last week 636.443 million) Impressions. Sony Pal continued at the fifth spot with 548.810 million (last week 606.991 million) Impressions. Star Utsav stayed at No. 6 garnering 520.333 million (last week 546.771 million) Impressions. Star Plus stayed at No. 7 with 517.696 million (last week 493.837 million) Impressions. Rishtey at No. 8 clocked 435.046 million (last week 425.303 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television stayed at No. 9 position with gross viewership of 417.585 million (last week 395.579 million) Impressions. Sony SAB too remained at No. 10 with 377.674 million (last week 393.338 million) Impressions.

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s spin-off show Kundali Bhagya and its original fiction Kumkum Bhagya grabbed the top two spots with 11.356 million (last week 11.683 million) and 11.047 million (last week 11.780 million) Impressions, respectively. Star Bharat’s Kya Haal Mr Panchaal slipped to No. 3 with 10.571 million (last week 12.126 million) Impressions in Week 49. Sony TV’s Super Dancer Chapter 2 climbed a spot up to reach No. 4 with 9.559 million (last week 9.539 million) Impressions. Sony SAB’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood at No. 5 with 8.810 million Impressions.

Top channels in urban markets

Colors continued to lead the flock of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) in the urban markets, garnering 445.064 million (last week 460.584 million) Impressions. Star Plus climbed to No. 2 in the urban markets with 360.808 million (last week 349.333 million) Impressions. Zee TV was ranked as the third most-watched Hindi GEC in the urban markets clocking 347.219 million (last week 387.912 million) Impressions. Star Bharat stood at the fourth spot by clocking 333.351 million (last week 340.796 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Entertainment Television with 298.689 million (last week 286.284 million) Impressions. Sony SAB garnered 278.317 million (last week 287.022 million) Impressions, standing at No. 6. Sony Pal was at No. 7 with 176.529 million (last week 178.945 million) Impressions. Rishtey too retained its No. 5 position with 317.443 million (last week 312.805 million) Impressions. Zee TV at No. 6 clocked 227.844 million (last week 248.531 million) Impressions. Dangal TV continued at No. 7 with 217.822 million (last week 243.983 million) Impressions. Colors stayed at No. 8 with 175.751 million (last week 182.512 million) Impressions. Sony Pal’s Baalveer was the most watched show in the rural markets in Week 50 by clocking 6.601 million (last week 7.774 million) Impressions. Star Bharat’s Kya Haal Mr Panchaal continued to stay at No. 2 with 6.004 million (last week 6.994 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Kaala Teeka grabbed 5.904 million Impressions, at No. 3.
