GEC Watch: Zee TV leads in U+R; Colors continue its lead in urban

Sony Sab gains viewership while Sony Entertainment Television witnesses decline. Dangal TV, which had entered the rural list last week, stayed put at seventh spot

GEC Watch: Zee TV leads in U+R; Colors continue its lead in urban

In Week 46 of 2017 (November 11-17) of BARC India data, Zee TV rose to grab the lead position in the combined markets U+R, displacing Star Bharat which slipped to No. 3. Star Bharat’s show Kya Haal Mr Panchal continued to be in the top five shows’ list in U+R and rural, both. Colors continued to be at No. 1 in the urban markets while Zee Anmol was on top in the rural markets.

Zee TV, in the meanwhile, grew back to No. 1, as both its fiction shows ranked well on the top shows chart. Other highlights in the week were gain of Sony Sab and decline in viewership of Sony Entertainment Television.

Dangal TV, which had entered the rural list last week, stayed put at its seventh spot.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 46 of 2017 (November 11-) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee TV grabbed the top spot garnering 677.155 million (last week 681.138 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol stayed put at No. 2 with 664.328 million (last week 687.192 million) Impressions. Star Bharat slipped to No. 3 with 656.578 million (last week 687.238 million) Impressions. Colors too retained its No. 4 position with 638.715 million (last week 612.853 million) Impressions. Sony Pal continued at the fifth spot with 629.560 million (last week 594.061 million) Impressions. Star Plus stayed put at No. 6 with 514.131 million (last week 527.648 million) Impressions. Star Utsav grew its numbers significantly to stand at No. 7 this week garnered 431.567 million (last week 392.455 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television slipped to No. 8 position with gross viewership of 425.518 million (last week 430.493 million) Impressions. Rishte yat No. 9 clocked 418.444 million (last week 382.655 million) Impressions. Sony SAB stayed at No. 10 with 393.863 million (last week 377.236 million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s spin-off show Kundali Bhagya and its original fiction Kumkum Bhagya grabbed the top two spots at No. 1 and 2 with 12.491 million (last week 11.509 million) and 11.938 million (last week 10.569 million) Impressions, respectively. Sony Sab’s flagship property Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood third with 9.704 million Impressions.

Star Bharat’s Kya Haal Mr Panchal was at No. 4 with 9.512 million (last week  9.061 million) Impressions. Sony Sab’s Balveer stood fifth with 8.901 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Colors continued to lead the flock of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) in the urban markets, garnering 451.438 million (last week 432.885 million) Impressions. Zee TV was ranked as the second most watched Hindi GEC in the urban markets clocking 411.746 million (last week 404.864 million) Impressions. Star Plus stood at the third spot in the urban markets with 361.675 million (last week 363.096 million) Impressions. Sony Sab grew to grab the fourth spot by garnering 305.645 million (last week 286.346 million) Impressions, followed by Star Bharat that had a minor gap in numbers,clocking 305.632 million (last week 311.679 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television slipped to sixth spot with 302.041 million (last week 313.731 million) Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 7 with 191.753 million (last week 188.887 million) Impressions. &TV rose to No. 8 garnering 165.647 million (last week 143.516 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol came in next at No. 9 with 155.954 million (last week 150.551 million) Impressions. Rishtey continued at No. 10 with 115.221 million (last week 104.504 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya topped the most watched shows in urban markets with 7.580 million (last week 6.845 million) Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya became the second most watched show in the urban markets with 7.430 million (last week 6.219 million) Impressions. Sony Sab’s flagship property Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood third with 6.643 million (last week 6.221 million) Impressions. Star Plus’ Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai were at Nos. 4 and 5 with 5.653 million (last week 5.673 million) and 5.537 million (last week 6.030 million) Impressions, respectively.

Top channels in Rural markets

Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 508.374 million (last week 536.641 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at its No. 2 position garnering 437.806 million (last week 405.174 million) Impressions. Star Bharat stayed at No. 3 spot in the rural markets recording 350.947 million (last week 375.558 million) Impressions. Star Utsav continued at No. 4 in rural markets garnering 327.616 million (last week 301.436 million) Impressions. Rishtey too retained its No. 5 position with 303.222 million (last week 278.150 million) Impressions. Zee TV at No. 6 clocked 265.408 million (last week 276.274 million) Impressions. Dangal TV continued at No. 7 with 201.288 million (last week 207.233 million) Impressions. Colors came in at No. 8 with 187.276 million (last week 179.967 million) Impressions. Big Magic followed at No. 9 with 177.336 million (last week 174.154 million) Impressions. Star Plus continued to be at No. 10 garnering 152.455 million (last week 164.551 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Baalveer stood at the top of the flock with 7.202 million (last week 6.283 million) and 7.057 million (last week 6.400 million) Impressions, respectively. Zee Anmol’sGanga followed next at No. 3 with 5.549 million (last week 5.467 million) Impressions. Sony Pal’s another show Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanumaan came in at No. 4 with 5.403 million Impressions, followed by Star Bharat’s Kya Haal Mr Panchal that garnered 5.384 million Impressions.
