GEC Watch: Zee TV tops U+R markets; Star Plus slips to No. 3

‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ from Zee TV claimed the top two slots pushing the channel up at No. 1. Star Plus’ ‘Dance+ 3’ made it to the top-5 shows in U+R markets

In Week 27 (July 1-6) of BARC India data, Zee TV rose to the No. 1 position in Urban+Rural (U+R) markets followed by Rishtey. Star Plus slipped to No. 3 position this week in U+R markets. However, the channel retained its leadership position in Urban markets.

‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ from Zee TV claimed the top two slots pushing the channel up at No. 1. Star Plus’ ‘Dance+ 3’ made it to the top-5 shows in U+R markets.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 27 (July 1-6) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee TV gained over 78 million Impressions in comparison to the last week to claim the top slot with 634.718 million Impressions. Rishtey too jumped to No. 2 position in the combined markets with 608.033 million Impressions. Star Plus slipped to No. 3 position despite registering some growth in its viewership. The channel recorded a gross Impressions of 605.936 million. Zee Anmol slipped two positions to No. 4 with 562.823 million Impressions. Sony Pal was at No. 5 with 546.447 million Impressions. Colors slipped to No. 6 position with 529.163 million Impressions. Sony SAB stayed at No. 7 with 401.749 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television was at No. 8 with 384.075 million Impressions. Life OK and Star Utsav trailed at No. 9 and 10 with 336.229 million and 278.670 million Impressions, respectively.

Top programmes in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (urban+rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs and Kumkum Bhagya claimed the top two positions with 12.653 million and 12.209 million Impressions, respectively. Naagin – Season 2 on Rishtey entered top-5 shows chart at No. 3 with 10.287 million Impressions. Dance Plus 3 on Star Plus was also a new entrant in top-5 shows. The show was fourth most watched programme in U+R markets with 8.509 million Impressions. SAB TV’s Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma too entered the chart with 8.425 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Star Plus retained its urban lead with 414.740 million Impressions. Zee TV climbed to No. 2 position with 373.072 million Impressions. Colors slipped at No. 3 position with 350.513 million Impressions. Sony SAB was at No. 4 with 285.439 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television too stayed at No. 5 with 284.060 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 219.447 million Impressions. Rishtey rose to No. 7 position in Urban markets with 158.090 million Impressions. Sony Pal slipped to No. 8 with 154.751 million Impressions. &TV stood at No. 9 with 146.928 million Impressions. Zee Anmol trailed at No. 10 with 116.694 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs and Kumkum Bhagya topped the most watched programmes’ list with 7.988 million Impressions and 7.151 million Impressions, respectively. Sony SAB’s flagship show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stayed at No. 3 with 6.055 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai garnered 5.495 million Impressions at No. 4, while its dance reality shows Dance Plus 3 entered the list at No. 5 with 5.419 million Impressions.

Top channels in Rural markets

Rishtey climbed to the top with 449.942 million Impressions, while Zee Anmol slipped to second position in the rural markets garnering 446.129 million Impressions. Sony Pal stayed on to No. 3 with 391.695 million Impressions. Zee TV remained at No. 4 with 261.625 million Impressions while Star Utsav too stayed at No. 5 with 213.240 million Impressions. Star Plus stood at No. 6 with 191.195 million Impressions while Colors too remained at No. 7 with 178.649 million Impressions. Big Magic stood at No. 8 with 154.608 million Impressions. DD National was at No. 9 with 124.797 million Impressions. Sony SAB followed at No. 10 with 116.310 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

Rishtey’s Naagin - Season 2 continued to top the list of most watched programmes list by garnering 7.808 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja and Tashan-e-Ishq stood at No. 2 and 3 with 5.738 million Impressions and 5.341 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya appeared at No. 4 with 5.057 million Impressions, while Sony Pal’s Balveer garnered 4.956 million Impressions at No. 5.
