GEC Watch: Colors’ Chandrakanta opens at No. 3 in U+R markets

In Week 26 (June 24-30) of BARC India data, Colors’ magnum opus ‘Chandrakanta’ fared at No. 3 spot in its debut week helping the channel grow by one position in Urban+Rural (U+R) markets. Zee TV’s reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa too gained good traction and grabbed the No. 2 position. The matches from Royal Stag Cup ODI Cricket series are also listed in the top shows lists.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 26 (June 24-30) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Star Plus remained at the top spot with 603.213 million Impressions, while Zee Anmol stayed put at No. 2 with 591.440 million Impressions. Rishtey toppled Sony Pal to come to No. 3 with 583.295 million Impressions, followed by its sister channel Colors with 556.816 million Impressions. At No. 5, Zee TV garnered 556.117 million Impressions. Sony Pal slipped to No. 6 with 530.875 million Impressions. Sony SAB at No. 7 stayed with 419.934 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television climber to No. 8 with 363.351 million Impressions. Life OK and Star Utsav trailed at No. 9 and 10 with 339.029 million and 274.686 million Impressions, respectively.

Top programmes in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (urban+rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs claimed the top two spots of the most watched programmes with 11.149 million and 9.597 million Impressions, respectively. Colors’ Chandrakanta debuted with 8.679 million Impressions, Rishtey’s Naagin-Season 2 stood at No. 4 with 8.341 million Impressions. DD National’s match between West Indies versus India slipped to No. 5 with 8.255 million Impressions.

Star Plus retained its urban lead with 409.246 million Impressions. Colors too remained at No. 2 position with 376.490 million Impressions. Zee TV climbed to No. 3 with 340.530 million Impressions while Sony SAB slipped to No. 4 with 301.045 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television too stayed at No. 5 with 269.822 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 225.984 million Impressions. Sony Pal climbed to No. 7 with 155.678 million Impressions. Rishtey slipped to No. 8 with 151.167 million Impressions and &TV stood at No. 9 with 140.232 million Impressions. Zee Anmol trailed at No. 10 with 121.083 million Impressions.

Sony SAB’s flagship show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah slipped to No. 3 with 6.048 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai garnered 5.887 million Impressions at No. 4, while Colors’ Chandrakanta stood at No. 5 with 5.025 million Impressions.

Zee Anmol remained the lead in the rural markets garnering 470.357 million Impressions. Rishtey too remained on the second position with 432.128 million Impressions and Sony Pal stayed on to No. 3 with 375.197 million Impressions. Zee TV climbed to No. 4 with 215.586  million Impressions while Star Utsav too stayed at No. 5 with 207.985 million Impressions. Rishtey’s Naagin - Season 2 tops the list of most watched programmes list by garnering 6.398 million Impressions. DD National’s Match three between West Indies ad India with 5.837 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja and Tashan-e-Ishq stood at No. 3 and 4 with 5.492 million Impressions and 4.944 million Impressions. DD National’s Match two between West Indies and India stood fifth with 4.543 million Impressions.
