Colors Kannada announces its first finite series

Colors Kannada, the general entertainment channel from Viacom18, has announced the launch of Sanju Mattu Naanu, the first finite series on the channel. Starting May 27, the 24-episode series will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm.

Colors Kannada’s upcoming show will blend the horizon between fiction and reality to create a unique hybrid show. Picking up where they left off, the participants of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 4 -- Pratham, Bhuvan and Sanjana -- will rekindle their romantic equation on the new show.

Until the finale of Bigg Boss Kannada season 4, Pratham’s expression of love for Sanjana was met with mysterious unresponsiveness. Sanju Mattu Naanu will bring the three hearts at the crossroad of their feelings.

Ravish Kumar, Head, Regional Entertainment, Viacom18, said, “Finite series as a format has become popular world over and across all platforms. We’re proud to be introducing the same to our Kannada viewers through Sanju Mattu Naanu. The novelty doesn’t end there. This is a step up in terms of content innovation as well. The first time ever a real-life love triangle which was brewing inside the Bigg Boss house will now see its culmination in the form of a fiction show. It has been our constant endeavour to renovate our offerings so that our audiences have the best television experience on our platform.”

Parameshwar Gundkal, Business Head, Colors Kannada and Colors Super, said, “The popularity of finite series has been taking over the rest of the world, and we believe it shall make its place in the Kannada GEC space as well. The genesis of Sanju Mattu Naanu was formed in our reality show Bigg Boss. Going by the popularity that Pratham, Bhuvan and Sanjana gained in the show, we are now extending their chemistry in the form of a fiction show. It’s going to be a short series of 24 episodes airing over the weekend and we hope the viewers appreciate the ingenuity of our content.”

Colors Super, the sibling channel of Colors Kannada, too has an upcoming reality show. Produced by Pixel Pictures, this will be the first talk show called Super Talktime.

Conceptualised and executed by Pixel’s team, the show marks yet another step in the company’s diversification into other content forms.

Pixel, which first entered the South Indian TV Production Industry in 2013, has been known for adapting international reality shows like Super Minute and Dancing Star to cater to regional audiences.

The show will be hosted by popular anchor, Akul Balaji, who was the winner of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 1.

Prashanti Malisetti, CEO, Pixel Pictures, said, “When we thought of a talk show for Kannada, we wanted to do something different. Super Talktime is for the audiences who want to watch gossip and games with celebrities involved. Akul will be hosting the show. Involving a lot of humour, it would be the perfect show to binge watch on a weekday, carrying the weekend fever forward. Our show would be a nice addition to prime time television.”

The show format follows a one-hour show, to be aired on Thursday and Friday. Each episode would feature two or three celebrity guests, bringing in the perfect blend of humour, games and gossips with the celebrity.
