Dedicated to celebrating musical excellence, Lokmat, Maharashtra and Goa's popular newspaper, has announced the fourth edition of its musical award called Lokmat SurJyotsna Award. Through this award, Lokmat gives a platform to aspiring singers across India. This year, a popular/film category has been added and singers can upload their video and audio files on a website – www.surjyotsna.org .The winners will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh in each category along with an award trophy.

The competition is open to the age group 15-30 years. Entries will be accepted zone wise on its website. The shortlisted finalists will perform in front of live audience at the SurJyotsna Award function to be held on March 25 in Nagpur.

The awards are instituted by Lokmat Media Group in memory of Late Jyotsna Darda. The SJMA's mission is to identify and recognise music talent across India.

Devendra Darda, Managing Director, Lokmat Media Pvt. Ltd said, “The Surjyotsna Music Awards are conceived with the vision of identifying unique musical talents from across the country. A dream dreamt by us three years back has today emerged as one of the platforms for upcoming singers and that has given us confidence to scale up the competition level. This year apart from classical we have opened a popular category and an online method of inviting entries. We look forward to celebrating another exciting year in Indian music and recognising new talent.”
