Big-MagicArmed with a plethora of new shows, all newly polished and with heavy investments, Big Magic is all set to roll with an extended evening primetime slot. The current primetime for the channel is from 6pm to 8pm, which is now expected to stretch for three hours, starting 7pm.

Launched recently, Akbar is the first one in a series of new shows. The show produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions tracks the journey of Mughal emperor Akbar.

In the month of March, the channel has planned two heavyweight shows -- one of them is a period drama, Eklavya, produced by Film Farm India Pvt Ltd. While Eklavya is a popular character in mythology, its journey has never been tracked on the Indian television before, though the character has been a part of Mahabharata.

Another show to go on the floor in March is Trishul, a kids' fantasy being produced by Contiloe Productions. The production house is known for mythology, period dramas and fantasy shows. The channel also has another mythology, Baal Krishna, currently on air.

All of these shows involve heavy investment. While a normal fiction show costs about Rs 8-10 lakh per 22 minute episode, the mythological series have a production cost in the range of Rs 20-28 lakh per 22 minute episode.
