Blaupunkt, a German consumer electronics and technology company, has announced its entry into the mobile phone accessories segment. New Delhi-based Vidur and Co, an IT and telecom product distributor, will launch Blaupunkt products – mobile phone accessories, smart phones, smart watches and phablets – in the Indian and SAARC markets through an exclusive brand licensing agreement. They have signed The Links India as their lead advertising partners. The mobile phone accessories range will include wired earphones, bluetooth earphones, power banks, data and charging cables and wireless charging docks.

Tim Guillois, CEO, The Links India, said, “Quirky, crisp and to the point, Blaupunkt's global advertising is known for driving the point home with brevity. It's a challenge, but at the same time a very exciting opportunity. Our team is all set to break convention and deliver the best.”

Speaking about the challenges, Sandeep Sivasankaran, COO, The Links India, said, “India is one of the fastest growing markets for phones and mobile accessories. We need to fight competition with some distinct and never-seen-before advertising. Fortunately, Blaupunkt has always been a brave, experimenting brand which widens our scope as well as our portfolio. It's a win-win situation for both.”

France-based The Links, a full-services marketing and communications group, began its operations in India last year and handles accounts like Pullman and Novotel, JK Tyre, Logitech among others.

“After mobile phone accessories, we are going to launch smartphones, phablets and smart watches in India and other SAARC countries by next year. The Indian consumer thinks very differently, hence, Blaupunkt's strategy for the Indian market is different from its global strategy. The Links India is an interesting amalgam of youthful unorthodoxy and mature restraint. We aim for a long and fruitful association,” said Madhur Madhav, Director, Vidur and Company.

“India represents one of the fastest-growing mobile phone markets in the world today, having crossed a milestone of 1 billion mobile users this year. Beyond the numbers, Indian smartphone consumers are spending never-before time with their smartphones, fuelling demand for mobile phone accessories. We are excited to be present in this dynamic market,” said Andrzej Cebrat, Managing Director, GIP Development / Blaupunkt.
