In Week 34 (August 20-26, 2016) of BARC data, Star Plus widened the lead margin by recording the maximum growth among Hindi general entertainment channels. The channel added 64 million Impressions this week to reach 732 million Impressions in Urban+Rural markets. Zee TV and Colors rose to No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively. Zee Anmol overtook Star Utsav in both U+R and Rural markets this week.

In U+R markets, Star Plus strengthened its leadership with 732 million Impressions followed by Zee TV with 577 million and Colors with 540 million Impressions. Zee Anmol added 51 million Impressions this week to overtake Star Utsav. Zee Anmol was at No. 4 position with 531 million Impressions followed by Star Utsav with 510 million Impressions.

Life OK stood at No. 6 with 427 million Impressions while Sony Pal was at No. 7 with 419 million Impressions. Sony SAB was at No. 8 with 394 million Impressions followed by Sony Entertainment Television at No. 9 with 370 million Impressions. Lastly, with 291 million Impressions Rishtey was at No. 10.

Top programmes in U+R

In combined (U+R) markets, Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya strengthened its lead with 12.2 million Impressions while its weekend show Brahmarakshas – Jaag Utha Shaitan held No. 2 position with 9.9 million Impressions. Star Plus shows Saath Nibhana Saathia and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein were at No. 3 and No. 4 with 9.6 and 8.7 million Impressions, respectively. Colors' Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsas Ki entered the top-5 club with 8.7 million Impressions this week.

Top Channels in Urban markets

Star Plus maintained its lead with 496 million Impressions followed by Colors at No. 2 with 375 million Impressions. Zee TV was at No. 3 with 328 million Impressions. SAB TV, Life OK and Sony Entertainment Television were at No. 4, 5 and 6 with 276, 270 and 265 million Impressions, respectively. &TV recorded 158 million Impressions in urban markets. FTA channels Zee Anmol, Star Utsav and Sony Pal were at No. 8, 9 and 10 with 123, 115 and 104 million Impressions, respectively.

Top Programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya continues to lead with 7.3 million Impressions followed by Saath Nibhana Sathiya on Star Plus with 6.3 million Impressions. Sony's The Kapil Sharma Show was at No. 3 in urban markets with 6.2 million Impressions followed by Shakti on Colors with 6 million Impressions. Star Plus' Yeh Hai Mohabbatein was at No. 5 with 5.8 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Rural markets

In the Rural markets, Zee Anmol overtook Star Utsav to become the most watched channel. Zee Anmol garnered 401 million Impressions followed by Star Utsav at No. 2 with 395 million Impressions. Sony Pal stood firm at No. 3 with 315 million Impressions while Zee TV was at No. 4 with 250 million Impressions. Star Plus rose one position to No. 5 in rural markets this week and garnered 237 million Impressions while Rishtey slipped to No. 6 with 217 million Impressions.

Colors remained at No. 7 with 164 million Impressions followed by Life OK at No. 8 with 157 million Impressions. SAB TV and Sony Entertainment Television were at No. 9 and 10 with 118 and 106 million Impressions, respectively.
