Book-Adaptation--The-Hundred-Foot-Journey

Star Movies Select HD is bringing in a slew of films that have been adapted from books under its Book Adaptation Festival. The channel has been showcasing movies that have been adapted from books every Sunday at 1pm and 3pm. Continuing its journey of showcasing famous adapted movies, it's back with its latest edition, with the  genius, with the Indo- French gourmet treat -- The Hundred-Foot Journey.

The Hundred-Foot Journey is based on Richard C Morais bestselling novel of the same name that tells the story of a young Indian chef named Hassan Kadam on his quest to become the culinary equivalent of Mozart. The film is a feast for the eyes, showcasing the culture clash between a French restaurateur and the owners of a new Indian restaurant across the street from her.

Between the intense professional fights among the restaurateurs, the audience gets to feast on the various gastronomical delights dished out by both the parties. With close-ups of beautifully plated boeuf bourguignon and freshly baked baguettes, the audience may find their palette being tickled during scenes of glistening grilled meat, simmering curries, snow-white béchamel sauce and wild mushrooms. “Food can cross cultural barriers and bring people together,” said Juliet Blake, one of the producers of the movie in an interview.

The Hundred-Foot Journey is a movie that not only crosses and dissolves cultural barriers but also introduces its audience to a wide spectrum of culinary delights they were earlier not exposed to, making it a gastronomical hit among the audience. The film also features a Bollywood connect with Om Puri, two-time Oscar winner AR Rahman and a guest appearance by Juhi Chawla.

Catch the Hundred-Foot Journey on Star Movies Select HD on Sunday, August 7 at 3pm.
