India Today Television, a leading English news channel, recently announced the launch of its quiz show – News Wiz. The show, hosted by Rajdeep Sardesai, Consulting Editor of India Today Group, is designed by television producer-director Siddhartha Basu of Kaun Banega Crorepati and Dus ka Dum fame.

The show has Tata Motors as presenting sponsor. News Wiz will be an hour long show and will be aired every Sunday at 11 am, starting July 24.

News Wiz will see participation from students across the country from classes IX till XII. The channel has shortlisted 60 schools from an extensive list of 1,500 through an online test. The list was trimmed to 27 schools that will participate in the 13-episode series featuring three teams consisting of two participants in each episode.

The show adopts a similar format of 'life-lines' from Kaun Banega Crorepati. There will be a phone-in helpline where participants can seek help for their answers from a journalist of the concerned field. It has a web guide station where one team member can look up the answers and assist the other team member who will be attempting the question in an allotted time. Celebrities and news makers from all walks of life are expected to be special guests during the shows.
