The 54th D&AD Professional Awards Ceremony took place on May 19, 2016 in London, where two Black Pencils were awarded, the highest accolade in the creative industry. A total of 747 Pencils were awarded, of which two were Black Pencils, three White Pencils, 61 Yellow Pencils, 149 Graphite Pencils and 532 Wood Pencils.

Y&R New Zealand was the most awarded advertising agency, while what3words was the most awarded design agency.

Black Pencils were won by 'The World Addressed' by what3words (Creativity for Good) – UK and 'mt expo 2015' by iyamadesign for Kamoi Kakoshi (Spatial Design) – Japan.

Three White Pencils were also awarded, recognising work which demonstrates outstanding creativity for social good. The While Pencils were given to 'Security Moms' by Ogilvy Brasil for Sport Clube do Recife – Brazil; 'Fairphone 2' by seymourpowell for Fairphone – UK and 'Clever Buoy' by M&C Saatchi for Optus – Australia.

Indian Wood Pencil winners:

BBDO India has won three Pencils, while Ogilvy & Mather and McCann Worldgroup India have won one Pencil each.

BBDO won two Pencils for P&G's Ariel – 'Share the Load' campaign, one in the Creativity for Good category and the other in the Integrated and Innovative Media category. It won a third Pencil for P&G's 'Whisper – Touch the Pickle' campaign in the Integrated and Innovative Media category. BBDO's 'Ariel Share the Load' campaign also won a Pencil in the Ambient category.

Ogilvy India bagged the White Pencil for its 'Make love not scars' campaign for Beauty Tips by Reshma - #EndAcidSale in the Creativity for Good category. McCann Worldgoup India won a Pencil for Dabur's musical instruments campaign in the crafts for advertising category.

GodSaveTheOcean by Ogilvy & Mather won a Pencil in Sustainable Product Design category. Publicis' Ambuja Cement's 'a giant's story' won a Pencil in the Casting for a Film category. Ogilvy India's 'Beauty tips by Reshma' won another Pencil in the Integrated Digital Campaign category.

'Rajasthan Tourism logo reveal' won a Pencil in the Animation for Film Advertising category, a campaign made by Studio Eeksaurus Production. Lastly, 'Two Sisters' campaign won a Pencil in the Stationery category, a film made by Sisterconcern Design Studio.

Speaking about the awards, D&AD CEO Tim Lindsay said, “We've seen a record number of entries and some truly wonderful work, including standout pieces of creative thinking in our new Media and PR categories. Equally pleasing is that putting purpose alongside profit and seeking to 'do well by doing good' is driving increasing numbers of incredibly high quality work for some very big brands. We love it when the commercial agenda and the sustainability agenda begin to intersect.”
