Atul Gupta, Executive Vice President, Suzuki Motorcycles India Limited (SMIL), has quit. Gupta told BestMediaInfo that he was now weighing new options. Gupta had been with the company for nine and a half years and had launched many successful two- wheeler models.

This was his second stint at the company. Gupta had earlier been associated with the joint venture, TVS Suzuki, joining the company as a sales executive in 1986. He had spent close to eleven years with the venture, leaving it in 1997, as National Sales Manager.Suzuki and TVS moved apart following a demerger in 2001.

Gupta has more than 30 years' experience in the industry, with stints in both the Indian and international markets. At SMIL, his key responsibilities included revenue, sales planning, network expansion and development, brand promotion, corporate, retail and rural sales, customer and channel satisfaction and corporate communication. He was closely involved with the launch of Suzuki Gixxer SF.

Prior to his recent stint with SMIL, Gupta was Associate Vice President at India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd from September 2004 to December 2006. He responsibilities included national sales and revenue growth, marketing, dealer development and logistics.

He had joined Yamaha from HFCL, where he spent seven years as Vice President (Profit Centre Head) beginning 1997.
