Sab TV, the comedy entertainment channel from Sony Pictures Networks India, has entered into a partnership with Twitter India to create a mini television series of user generated content. The television channel has called on the Twitterati to send real life funny stories to #TweetAFunnyStory. The stories may be included in Sab TV's new show, 'Khidki'.

The online campaign will see equal and mutual involvement from both Twitter and Sab TV. Users are invited to Tweet their funny stories in the mandatory 140 characters on Twitter, which will then be shortlisted by Sab TV and the producers of the show, J.D. Majethia and Bollywood director, Umesh Shukla, for the new series.

The makers of the show will be available for a question and answer (Q&A) session through Periscope, so users may clear their doubts about the campaign and learn more about storytelling. The shortlisted stories will then be presented on the channel in the form of an episodic series.

Anooj Kapoor, Senior EVP and Business Head, Sab TV, said, “Sourcing user generated content from a powerful social medium like Twitter, and presenting it to a larger universe on the Sab TV platform, is an experiment which I am confident will pave newer ways for content development in Indian Television.”

Viral Jani Viral Jani

Viral Jani, Head of TV Partnerships, Twitter India, said, “India continues to witness a social TV movement in India today. With this unique initiative by Sab TV, for the first ever time one's Tweet can create and shape their own TV series on a leading broadcast channel - a first of its kind move seen in the country.”

This campaign is an extension of the channel's brand belief of “differentiation through innovation”. Other than Twitter, the viewers may also submit their funny stories on www.sabtv.com or email them to humarifunnykahani@setindia.com. The most interesting and entertaining story will be told on-screen and the family will also get a chance to be a part of the series as the story heads towards a climax. Renowned names from theatre and the television industry are expected to be a part of this initiative.
