What-a-fest

The three day annual advertising festival at Goa culminated for its 2016 edition on Saturday night, April 9. Many enthusiastic audience and winners walked out with trophies each night of the fest. All the three days were filled with fun activities, conclaves and of course, the most sought after awards and party, each night. As they say, 'When in Goa, you have to party!'

When there are stalwarts speaking their experiences, there's no way to stop the audience from grabbing the most from an event. This year's festival too saw addresses from Cadbury's MD Chandramouli Venketsan, Minister Arjuna Ranatunga, Strategy Head at Crispin Porter + Bogusky Benny Thomas, Karan Johar in conversation with R Balki, Shobha De, Worldwide CEO, FCB Carter Murray, Global CEO, Isobar Jean Lin, Group President, Reliance Industries Raghu Raman and a couple of others.

The activities ensured keeping you engaged in between the enlightening sessions and while you decided to take a stroll around the grand venue at Goa. Not to forget that there was always 'beer' that was at your service (a must, when in Goa). Everybody ensured that they had equal fun attending sessions, or during breaks.

The moment one entered the fest, one could experience Times Network's 4D in an amazingly built dome. The 4D roller coaster ride was indeed a fun and scary experience. And of course, there were 'goodies' for everyone who experienced it. 'I got a MN+ hat and some country caramel popcorn.'

As you proceed, you could pose yourself with an 'I TLC' object, beautifully designed in red. One could enjoy two games at that counter, and get clicked with some Russians posing with props in a fancy boat. It seems the winner would get a TLC branded cap.

At yet another stall, downloading the ABP Live news app would get you a Bluetooth speaker. There was a Times Network counter, where you could click yourself with your favourite superhero - may be a Spiderman or Batman or Superman.

Oh wait! There's more. Here, at MagicBricks Now counter, you just had to ask one property related question to get an amazing 'metal water bottle' and a pen. Simple right. The newly launched property focused business channel left no stone unturned for attracting the audience.

Enough of indoors, the outdoors fun was on another level. The lawn hosted the sun downer which had live gigs from some noted bands. It also had tents with bean bags and another TLC counter with an activity.

Not only did audiences enjoy it, speakers did take their share of fun and enjoyment at the event. In a casual conversation with Benny Thomas, I remember him sharing how lively the festival was with so many things happening. A couple of agency folk too appreciated the well organised event. Oh wait, the media was super happy for a dedicated 'Beer Tap' in the media centre; come on, working at Goa, without beer? The organisers did pull it off, quite well.

Dasvidaniya from Goafest, it said.. until the next edition comes up...
