It is well known that Kapil Sharma and Colorsparted ways on about a year ago on bitter terms. The comedian has since moved on to rival GEC, Sony TV,to bring out another show. That could not have gone down well with the channel that made him a celebrity; Colors, too, enjoyed amazing eyeballs for Comedy Nights with Kapil.

Without saying so, but something that is more than obvious, Colors has ostensibly found a smart way to hit back at Kapil and his new show. Pitting one of their costliest purchases of the year - BajiraoMastani– in the same time slot as 'The Kapil Sharma Show' on Sony, Colors is undoubtedly trying to make a dent on the opening TVRs of the show on Sony. How? The debut episode of the show on Sony and BajiraoMastani's world premiereon Colorsare both slotted to air on Saturday, April 23, at 9 PM! It is pertinent to note that Colors doesn't have a movie slot on Saturday evenings.

Neither the Colorsnor Sharma have parted ways in a good spirit. The three-year-long relationship between Colors and Kapilwhich gave impressive eyeballs and brought in advertisers to the channel went for a toss during theirbitter separation. The advertising rates increased from a mere Rs 60,000-70,000 at the start of CNYK in 2013 to a whopping Rs 2-2.5 lakh within a year and remained so till the end of the show in January 2016.

Both parties have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with each other. While the actor was accused of being rude and unprofessional, the channel faced accusations of lacking in understanding. Colors had replaced Kapil's show with, first, Comedy Nights Bacho, and then, Comedy Nights Live with another stand-up comedian,AbhishekKrushna and Bharti.

Whether the movie premiere will be able to damage the debut ratings of Kapil's show on Sony is yet to be seen. By definition, movies are male skewed and so is comedy; however, Kapil is popular amongst female audiences.

We have to wait till next Thursday when BARC will come out with its Impressions for Week xx.
