GEC Watch: Prem Ratan Dhan Payo propels Star Plus to No. 1

In Week 8 of BARC ratings, Star Plus gained the maximum. Colors and SAB TV also gained. Zee TV, Life Ok and Sony saw a fall in viewership. Zee Anmol kept its leadership among FTA channels despite a fall in viewership

In Week 8 of BARC Impressions, Star Plus regained the number one position on the back of Salman Khan's blockbuster movie 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' that aired on February 21 at 8 PM. Besides Star Plus which gained the maximum, Colors and SAB TV also witnessed growth, whereas Zee TV, Life Ok and Sony saw a decline in viewership.

According to select data shared by BARC India for Week 8 for Hindi general entertainment channels (February 20 – February 26) {HSM: NCCS All: 4+ Individuals: BARC India base – All India (U+R), Impressions (000s)}, Star Plus stood at No. 1 with a gross viewership of 768495, a substantial rise from last week's 692564.

Colors slipped to No. 2 with a gross viewership of 725868, a marginal rise from last week's 716604.

Zee TV is at No. 3 with a gross viewership of 645473, a fall from last week's 666691.

Life OK continues to be at No. 4 with a gross viewership of 437776 compared to last week's 465971.

SAB TV is at No. 5 with a gross viewership of 363158, compared to last week's 355146.

Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 6 with a gross viewership of 311654, a fall from 336447 last week.

FTA channels

Zee Anmol continues to at the No.1 position with a gross viewership of 625553 despite a fall from last week's 656412.

Star Utsav stood at No. 2 with a substantial gain at a gross viewership of 492907 (last week 446217).

Sony Pal is at No. 3 with a gross viewership of 477372 (last week 433875).

Rishtey is at No.4 with a gross viewership of 372527 (last week 371925).

Top 5 programmes in Hindi GECs

As per select data HSM: NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals: BARC India base – All India (U+R), Colors' Naagin remains the most viewed show with an average viewership of 20229 (last week 20284).

DD National's Asia Cup T20 2016 Live – Match 1 – Bangladesh vs India stood at No. 2 with a viewership of 14927.

Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya is at No. 3 with an average viewership of 14190 (last week 15721).

Star Plus' Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 4 with an average viewership of 13871 (last week 12443).

Lastly, Zee Anmol's Jodha Akbar is at No. 5 with an average viewership of 12095 (last week 12911).
