When Bloomberg LP wrapped up its licencing agreement with Business Broadcast News in India last week, both the companies announced that they will continue to operate separately. While Anil Ambani led Business Broadcast News is all set to launch a new business news channel with existing infrastructure, Bloomberg is set to partner with Raghav Bahl's The Quint for a digital and television joint venture in India.

Bahl, who launched India's first business news television channel in partnership with CNBC, and then formed several such partnerships with global brands such as CNN, Viacom and Da Vinci Media, is set to enter the business news television space again with Bloomberg.

A text sent to Bahl to confirm the development remained unanswered. However, sources confirmed that the new venture will be named BloombergQuint and will bring its digital offering first in a few weeks followed by a television channel later this year.

Bahl, who exited from Network18 in mid-2014, has already started making inroads in the television broadcast business after beginning with his digital start-up The Quint last year. Bahl's first foray in television after exiting Network18 was an educational television channel, Da Vinci Learning, last year. The Quint entered into a 50:50 JV with Da Vinci Media to bring the channel in India.
