GEC Watch: Colors retains top position

Colors is the only channel to hold on to last week's viewership among pay channels. Among FTA channels, Star Utsav, Rishtey and Sony Pal witness growth in Week 51 of BARC ratings

Colors retained the top position by holding on to its performance of last week while Star Plus held the No. 2 position despite losing maximum viewership among mainline Hindi general entertainment channels. Other GECs too lost eyeballs this week without witnessing any change in the pecking order.

According to select data shared by BARC India for Week 51 for Hindi general entertainment channels (December 19 to December 25) {HSM: NCCS All : 4+ Individuals: BARC India base – All India (U+R), Ratings (000s)}, Colors topped the chart for the second week in a row. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 725881 (last week 725713).

Star Plus' viewership dropped further but the channel held its No. 2 position with a gross viewership of 676890 (last week 707219).

Zee TV too witnessed drop in viewership this week and recorded a gross viewership of 669655 against last week's 677089.

Life OK retained its No. 4 position with a gross viewership of 437469 (last week 438496).

Sony Entertainment Television too lost significant viewership this week. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 342689 against last week's 365546.

SAB TV was at No. 6 position with a gross viewership of 323214 (last week 328664).

FTA channels

Among FTA channels, Zee Anmol led the pack despite losing maximum viewership this week. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 712825 (last week 752782).

Star Utsav was at No. 2 with a gross viewership of 514354 (last week 506990).

Rishtey held its No. 3 position this week with a gross viewership of 286712 (last week 272506).

Sony Pal recorded a gross viewership of 239700 (last week 238738).

Top 5 programmes in Hindi GECs

As per select data (HSM: NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): Individuals: BARC India base – All India (U+R), Colors' 'Naagin' remained the most watched show in Week 51 with an average viewership of 18549 (last week 18525).

Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' was at No. 2 with an average viewership of 12793 (last week 14850).

Zee Anmol's 'Ek Se Bhale Do' held No. 3 position with a viewership of 12739 (last week 13051).

Colors' 'Sasural Simar Ka' entered the top-5 club with a viewership of 12363 (Rat'000s).

'Kumkum Bhagya' on Zee TV slipped one position to No. 5. The show recorded a viewership of 12183 (last week 13014).
