Fragmentation of TV viewership means that no longer does any show witness the skyhigh ratings of the early 2000s. Amitabh Bachchan's return to the Hindi GEC Star Plus with 'Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi' after 15 long years hasn't seen the ratings witnessed in the golden years of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. Although it would be unfair to compare the ratings of 'Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi' with the golden years of KBC, the new reality show hasn't quite set the ratings chart on fire in week 42 (October 17-October 23) of the BARC ratings. Week 42 also marked the second week since integration of rural data into BARC.

As per data provided by BARC, (HSM : NCCS All : Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hrs) : Individuals  : BARC India base - All India (U+R), 'Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi', which launched on October 18 at  8 PM on Star Plus, fetched a rating of 3449 (in sum of 000s). That basically translates into a viewership of 3.4 million.

Colors had aired a special episode of 'Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi' on October 18 at 8 PM which got a viewership of 5063 (rating in sum of 000s).

On the same day and the same time slot, Zee TV's 'Neeli Chatri Wale' had got a rating of 3277 (in sum of 000s).

Sony Entertainment Channel had aired a special episode of 'Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman' on October 18 at 8 PM which got a viewership of 2222 (rating in sum of 000s).

SAB TV's 'Police Factory', which airs on Saturday and Sunday at 8 PM, garnered a viewership of 1493 (rating in sum of 000s) on October 18.

& TV's 'Deal or No Deal' airing on weekends at 8 PM, got a viewership of 748 (rating in sum of 000s) on October 18.

Competition at 9 PM

The week also saw the launch of the Farhan Akhtar hosted Zee TV biweekly reality show 'I Can Do That' that launched on October 17 at 9 PM, drawing an average viewership of 3880 (rating in sum of 000s).  The rating for the launch episode on October 17 was 4290 (in sum of 000s), while for the following day it was 3472 (in sum of 000s).

Meanwhile, 'Bigg Boss Nau' which airs at 10.30 PM on weekdays and 9 PM on weekends, drew an average rating for the entire week of 3392 (in sum of 000s). The show got a viewership of 4918 and 4508 (in sum of 000s) on October 17 and 18, respectively.

Sony Entertainment Television had aired the second run of the 2015 superhit flick 'ABCD 2 on October 17 from 6.30 PM to 10 PM which fetched a viewership of 3302 (rating in sum of 000s). On the following day, Sony aired episode of 'Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap' at 9 PM, which got a viewership of 1284 (rating in sum of 000s).

SAB TV, which rescheduled the time slot of 'Comedy Superstar', saw the show's get a viewership of 535 and 460 (rating in sum of 000s) on October 17 and 18, respectively.

Agent Raghavairing at 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday at 9 PM, garnered a viewership of 780, and 534 (rating in sum of 000s) on October 17 and 18, respectively.
