The English GEC space witnessed a change of guard in Week 38 (September 19-Septemebr 25) of BARC ratings as Zee Café, which had being the No. 1 channel for long, was toppled from the top spot.

According to select data, (6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+) for English GECs, Comedy Central (v) rose to the top spot with a gross viewership of 282 (ratings in sum of 000s). That is an increase of 167 TVT for Comedy Central (v), which had garnered a viewership of 115 (ratings in sum of 000s) in Week 37.

Zee Café slid to the second position with a viewership of 189 (ratings in sum of 000s) in Week 38, a loss of 50 TVT over viewership of 239 (ratings in sum of 000s) in the previous week.

AXN was back among the top three English GECs at the expense of Colors Infinity, garnering a viewership of 108 (ratings in sum of 000s) in Week 38.

Sports channels

There was no change in the hierarchy of sports channels in Week 38 of BARC ratings, as Ten Sports surged ahead of its competitors.

According to select data (All India : NCCS AB : Males 22+ : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), Ten Sports led the charts with a viewership of 58,963 (ratings in sum of 000s).

Sony Six held on to its second spot with a viewership of 13,747 (ratings in sum of 000s).

Star Sports 1 remained in the third position with a viewership of 5,788 (ratings in sum of 000s).

World Wrestling Entertainment continued to propel Ten Sports forward. The special event, 'Night of Champions', was the top rated sports programme of Week 38, garnering a viewership of 1,300 (ratings in sum of 000s).

The next four spots also featured various verticals from World Wrestling Entertainment.

However, in the coming weeks, Ten Sports could face some stiff competition as South Africa's tour of India begins from October 2. Star Sports will be airing the series live.
