Bajrangi-BhaijaanIt was a blockbuster at the box-office and it turned out be a blockbuster on television as well. Salman Khan-starrer 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' had its world television premiere on Star Gold and Star Gold HD on October 11, 2015 at 12.30 pm. The film had a running time of 159 minutes. The movie has set a new viewership record on BARC garnering 25 million TVTs (HSM CS 4+ Urban and Rural) in Week 41 (October 10-16) of BARC ratings.

74.5 million people across the country tuned in to the premiere, which is close to three  times the number that watched it in the theatres.

It may be noted here that starting Week 41, BARC is providing the All India data following the integration of the rural data, which accounts for 76 million households, thereby, the BARC ratings now covers 153.5 million TV households across India.

Star India pulled-off a massive marketing campaign for the premiere. The channel roped in Amazon.in as the presenting sponsor, while askme.com, CarWale and Hero were powered by sponsors. Other sponsors included Vodafone (telecom partner), Lux (fragrance partner), Lenovo (style partner), Ford (driven by partner), and FeviKwik (Bonding partner).

'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' not only helped Star Gold rise to the top spot, but the channel's viewership also crossed the 4-million mark. As per select data {HSM : NCCS All : Individuals : BARC India base - All India (U+R)}, Star Gold topped the table with a gross viewership of 486 million.

Meanwhile, in the Hindi GECs programming space there was a new leader. As per select data (HSM : NCCS All : Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hrs) : Individuals : BARC India base - All India (U+R), Star Plus' show 'Diya aur Baati Hum' topped the table with a viewership of 15,135 (rating in sum of 000s).

This was followed by another Star Plus show, 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya', which got a viewership of 14,601 (rating in sum of 000s). Zee TV's 'Kumkum Bhagya' was third with a viewership of 13,365 (rating in sum of 000s), while two of Colors' shows – 'Sasural Simar Ka' and 'Swaragini' – garnered viewership of 12,599 (rating in sum of 000s) and 11,440 (rating in sum of 000s), respectively.

Not quite big for 'Bigg Boss'?

'Bigg Boss Nau', which has Salman Khan as host for the sixth straight season, garnered ratings of 7,591 (in sum of 000s) for its launch episode aired on October 11, 2015. The show's average rating from October 11 to October 16 was 4,657 (rating in sum of 000s).

'Bigg Boss Nau' airs at 10.30 pm on weekdays, while on Saturdays and Sundays, the show airs at 9.00 pm.
