Viacom18's newly-launched channel, Colors Infinity, is all set to launch its homegrown English music talent hunt show – 'The Stage' – on October 10. The show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm.
Vishal Dadlani, Monica Dogra, Ehsaan Noorani, and Devraj Sanyal form part of the jury panel, while Shibani Dandekar has been roped in as the show's host.
Ferzad Palia, EVP, Viacom18 and Head, English Entertainment, commented, “Since the inception of Colors Infinity, we have aimed at nothing but disruptive content. After the new line-up and 'Instant Premieres', we now up the ante even further with the launch of our first homegrown English language singing show, 'The Stage'.”
He further said, “We are immensely proud to introduce this concept on Indian television. There are numerous gifted English music artists in this country. Unfortunately, they have never had the opportunity to showcase their talent, but now, with 'The Stage' we are providing them with the platform where they can finally do that.”
'The Stage' has been produced by SOL, a well-known name in the field of non-fiction content. Colors Infinity has brought on board Renault as the Presenting Sponsor for the show, while TrulyMadly app is the Powered By sponsor.
Commenting on the association with 'The Stage', Virat Khullar, Marketing Head, Renault India, said, “As a company, we at Renault stand for innovation and passion and 'The Stage' is a fresh new concept in Indian television, which is bound to change the scope of entertainment in this country. This belief in the show is the foundation of our partnership with Colors Infinity. We are glad that we can be a part of this huge transformation of English entertainment in India.”
Palia informed that the show had received a very good response from across the country during the audition stage, especially from the North-East. He added that the winner would be given a chance to launch his solo with Universal Studios and would have a global release for the same.
When asked about the response received by Colors Infinity so far, he said, “The response so far from viewers and clients has been good. The channel has been received well not just in the metros, but across the country. Even for Vh1, non-metro cities contribute a high percentage to our overall viewership pie.”
Palia further said that the current focus for Colors Infinity would be on homegrown non-fiction shows.
Commenting on the unique concept of 'The Stage', the channel's co-curator, Karan Johar, said, “When I first heard about 'The Stage', I was amazed at the introduction of such a novel concept for Indian television. I can see a paradigm shift in reality TV shows in India.” Co-curator Alia Bhatt added here, “English music is such an important part of our playlists, but we don't get to see it anywhere on our music platforms. So 'The Stage' is an idea whose time has come.”
