Star India has sold its entire stake of 25.99 per cent in Balaji Telefilms. At Rs 63.6 per share, the total deal is valued at Rs 108 crore.
Star India had initially picked up a 21 per cent stake in Ekta and Shobha Kapoor-owned Balaji Telefilms in 2004 for an estimated Rs 123 crore. This stake was later hiked to 25.99 per cent through an open offer.
It may be recalled that at that time several of Balaji's 'K' serials were running on Star Plus and were garnering high TRPs. These included 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki', and 'Kasauti Zindagi Ki'.
