According to select data (All India : NCCS All : Week 33 : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+) for the sports genre, Ten Sports retained the top spot with 32,378 TVT, while Sony Six, riding on the back of the India-Sri Lanka Test, stayed second with 27381 TVT, and Star Sports 2 saw a drop in viewership from last week (255562 TVT) as it garnered 12010 TVT in Week 33.

For the first time, Pro Kabaddi 2 made it to the top five programmes. The semi-final live action on August 21, featuring Telugu Titans Vs Bengaluru Bulls on Star Sports 2 from 8.00 pm fetched 402 TVT and took the fourth spot. The live league game between Puneri Paltan and Dabang Delhi on August 16, starting at 8.00 pm on Star Sports 3, took the fifth spot with 361 TVT.

Meanwhile, WWE's (World Wrestling Entertainment) long reign at the top came to an end as the decisive fourth day of the Sri Lanka-India Test on Sony Six topped the chart with 681 TVT. However, WWE Raw highlights took the second spot with 565 TVT.

Live action from Day 1 of the second Sri Lanka-India Test that commenced on August 20 at 10.00 pm, took the third spot with 495 TVT.

Hindi Movie Genre

Meanwhile, in the Hindi movie genre, the much hyped world television premiere of the 2015 hit flick 'Piku' on Independence Day at 8.00 pm on Sony TV failed to garner the expected eyeballs. The Deepika Padukone-Amitabh Bachchan-starrer could get only 1.6 TVT.

According to select data (HSM : NCCS All : Week 33 : Individuals: BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+) for the Hindi movie genre, Sony Max regained the top spot with gross viewership of 209 million, while Star Gold, which had topped last week, slipped to the third position with gross viewership of 190 million.

Zee Cinema rose to the second spot with gross viewership of 197 million.

The top five movies of the week included the Akshay Kumar-starrer flick 'Gabbar is Back' which aired on UTV Movies. The movie topped the charts with 3.3 TVT.

Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan-starrer 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani', which had its world TV premiere on Sony Max on August 16 at 8.00 pm, garnered 3 TVT. In fact, Sony Max had a good run as two other movies aired on the channel featured among the top five Hindi movies of Week 33 – 'Rowdy Rathore', which garnered 1.8 TVT, and 'Mr X', which posted 1.7 TVT, were placed at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Zee Cinema prevented a clean sweep by Sony Max as an old hit 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' took the third spot with 2.3 TVT.

As per select data (6 Mega Cities : NCCS AB : Week 33 : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+), the English move genre saw one change in the pecking order as Sony Pix jumped to the third spot with 2033 TVT. Movies Now led the chart with 3788 TVT, while Star Movies was placed second with 2337 TVT.

As per select data (All India : NCCS All : Week 33 : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+) for the music genre, 9x Jalwa stormed back into the top 3 list taking the second spot with 29632 TVT. Mastiii's reign at the top continued as the music channel fetched 35023 TVT, while MTV dropped to third spot with 25549 TVT.
