star-india-corporate-logo1BCCI yesterday announced that Novi Digital Entertainment, a wholly owned subsidiary of Star India, has bagged certain media rights of the Pepsi Indian Premiere League (IPL) for three seasons (2015, 2016 & 2017) for Rs 302.2 crore. This amount is substantially higher than the fee of the previous rights period.

Bids were received from three entities – Times Internet, Multi Screen Media and Novi Digital Entertainment. The cricket board, after following the due tender process, awarded these Media Rights to Novi Digital Entertainment. The media rights have been acquired for a period of three seasons – 2015, 2016 and 2017 – for which a cumulative reserve price of Rs 120 crore was set.

The media rights include:

1. Indian subcontinent: Internet & mobile rights.

2. Rest of the World (Certain Territories): Television, Audio, Internet and Mobile rights.

SET MAX holds the broadcast rights for the Indian sub-continent and certain other territories.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had issued a tender notice on January 21, 2015, inviting fresh bids for Internet & mobile rights for India & rest of the world region along with certain television & audio rights related to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sanjay Patel, Secretary, BCCI, said, “Our partnership with Novi Digital Entertainment augurs well for the Pepsi IPL as well as the millions of fans who follow the tournament and we are delighted to commence an association with the organisation whose bid was found to be the most deserving.”
