The premiere of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs 5' on December 27, 2014 clocked a stellar opening of 4776 TVTs in Week 52 of TAM 2014 (Source: TAM data). This is the highest opening for a singing reality show in 2013-14. For the record, the launch episode of 'India's Raw Star' on Star Plus garnered 4521 TVTs while 'Indian Idol Junior' on Sony opened at 3777 TVTs.
Zee TV has also led the fiction genre with a clean sweep in 2014 with four of its weekday primetime shows leading the pack in the Top 10 fiction launches of the year. Zee TV's fiction line-up has grown from strength to strength with each successive launch.
The opening episode of 'Jamai Raja' clocked 5930 TVTs, and combined with an opening week average of 5488 TVTs, it was the highest opening for a soap in the last two years. The show also emerged as the quickest gainer and attained slot leadership within three weeks of its launch. 'Kumkum Bhagya' saw a 171 per cent growth during its shaadi highpoint (first 4 weeks average: 2963 TVT & the shaadi event: 8043 TVTs), gaining slot leadership in Week 34.
Jodha Akbar continues to be a consistent slot leader for over a year now. Add to that the fact that Zee TV's latest non-fiction property 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs' has opened with the highest rating amongst singing-based reality shows across industry in 2013-2014.
Zee TV Business Head Pradeep Hejmadi said, "The sustained success of our fiction programming speaks of our relationship with audiences that has only evolved and strengthened over the years. Viewers turn to our protagonists for a ray of hope as every story we bring our audience is a reflection of our core proposition of 'Har Lamha Nayi Ummeed'. In addition to a strong weekday fiction line-up, we have focused on building equally strong weekend pillars in the 'Super Weekend' band from 7 PM onwards on Saturday and Sunday like 'Maharakshak Aryan' and 'Neeli Chhatri Wale'. The promising opening to our latest non-fiction property 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs' only adds to our weekend offering. It has 12 beautiful young voices of India and the larger vision of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs' is to lend 'Nayi Ummeed' to countless other similarly talented children to be inspired and hone their latent talents. Let's hope the journey of each of the L'il Champs motivates India's youth."
