Comedy Central, the 24-hour English entertainment channel has announced the launch of four shows –'Billy on The Street', 'Psych' (seasons 1-4), 'Penn & Teller: Fool Us' and 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' to be telecast from October 27.
'Psych', a comedy-drama series, focusses on Shawn Spencer (James Roday), a police consultant who pretends to be psychic, and his assistant Burton "Gus" Guster, a pharmaceuticals salesman. The premiere episode was watched by approximately 6.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated scripted series premiere for a cable network in the US.
'Penn & Teller: Fool Us' is a British import which is hitting Indian shores for the first time, but is no newbie to television screens. It features renowned entertainers Penn and Teller who invite aspiring magicians to perform their best tricks with an intention of 'fooling them'. On succeeding, the magician wins a ticket to Las Vegas and gets to open for 'Penn and Teller Live' at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Comedy Central will continue to tickle viewers' funny bone with the premiere of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', the international debut of which was watched by 11.31 million viewers. The premiere episode will be a real visual flourish with a rooftop performance by U2 in an interesting way, while taking advantage of the Manhattan skyline. Known to get celebrities to do unthinkable things on camera – like the egg roulette with Tom Cruise – Jimmy Fallon is certainly the king of talk shows & late night television.
Emmy-winner Billy Eichner on his show 'Billy on The Street', an ambush-style game show, runs, literally, through the streets of New York city, harasses unsuspecting pedestrians asking innocuous pop-culture questions, before sprinting away as quickly as he arrived. What makes this show hilarious is Eichner's crazy approach that has people completely confused.
Ferzad Palia, Executive Vice-president and Business Head, English Entertainment, Viacom18, said, “This festive season, we promise more fun, laughter and entertainment as we launch varied formats of entertainment. 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' will be a landmark series for Comedy Central, with us airing the show about 24 hours from its original US telecast. All of the other shows are extremely popular outside of India. We are certain that our viewers will enjoy the diverse content offered, and hope that these shows are well-received by our Indian audiences.”
