Rapid executive movements among advertising agency professionals is a reality. But, when there is a sudden string of exits from an agency branch, it is bound to raise eyebrows. JWT Delhi has recently seen a slew of resignations by some of its senior-most executives. According to sources close to the developments, National Creative Director Swati Bhattacharya has put in her papers. Surjo Dutta, Executive Creative Director, has also resigned.

The others who have resigned around more or less the same time include Sumer Mathur, Executive Planning Director; Suman Varma, Executive Business Director; and Gulshan Singh, VP – Planning.

The stand of the management is yet to be known but it is learnt that efforts are afoot to keep back some of them.

Significantly, all the above-mentioned names have been involved with the key GSK account, the largest JWT account in India today. It is learnt that Shubho Sengupta of TBWA India is set to join JWT Delhi as Executive Business Director on the GSK business.

The Delhi branch is currently headed by Sanjeev Bhargava, Managing Partner.

JWT Delhi, once the largest branch office of any advertising agency in India, the largest and most profitable JWT office in Asia Pacific and the third largest JWT office in the world, has come under severe pressure with Airtel shifting a significant part of its creative work to Taproot India.
