After 16 months of operations as as StrawberryFrog India, the Raj Kamble fronted outfit has decided to go independent and rebranded itself as Famous Innovations. Following the change of name, Famous Innovations will in no way be associated with StrawberryFrog globally.
Famous will continue with its own roster of clients including Raymond, Titan Industries, SAB Miller, Lakme lever, Vadilal Ice-creams, Spykar, MassMutual USA, Total Environment and Piramal amongst others.
Raj Kamble is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Famous Innovations, while Arun Raman as Head of Strategy and Kamal Mandal as Chief Financial Officer complete the leadership team.
Scott Goodson’s StrawberryFrog had entered India with Kamble as Managing Partner and COO in November 2012. It may be recalled that Kamble had quit BBH India as Managing Partner in January 2012. Before that he was Senior VP and Creative Director with BBDO Worldwide New York on the global P&G and Gillette business.
On his decision to go independent, Kamble said, “The last 16 months have been amazing at the agency. We have won nine out of the 11 businesses we pitched for, and I am very positive about the team we have built. Now, in India, we are moving out of the licensing model of using a global brand name. Our true strength is our passionate team and nothing should stop us from investing in our people and in our work.”
Kamble added, “We are at an exciting phase of our journey and I believe that the work we have on the table with Mahindra RisePrize, Xylys by Titan and Raymond will make our clients proud.”
Arun Raman threw some light on the new name. “Innovation is in our DNA. Our new name captures our spirit perfectly: making our client brands Famous through our innovative solutions,” he said.
Famous' key clients also commented on the change in name. Rajan Amba, GM, Titan Watches and Accessories, said, “The team has a great energy and we are delighted by their commitment, their creativity and the strategic thought process they bring to brand Xylys. We appreciate most the open communication and the willingness to listen wholeheartedly while also pushing the boundaries of our own thinking as clients. Keep pushing!"
Pushkaraj Shenai, CEO, Lakme Lever, added, "Raj and his team have presented some stunning ideas to magnify the expertise at Lakme Salons. The ideas are fresh and will work across channels and touch-points, which is critical in an experiential business like ours. I am confident that together we will do some innovative stuff."
Jyotishman Deka, VP-Marketing, WM and International Brands, SAB Miller, commented, “The agency has helped us create a unique positioning for Miller High Life. The team's way of thinking ‘beyond advertising’ is absolutely bang on. Miller High Life is a very young brand in India and our agency is going all out in helping make it famous."
Sanjay Behl, CEO, Raymond Lifestyle, remarked, "I am a believer of the potential of innovation in marketing, and I'm glad that Raj and his team are pursuing that. I like their young energy and hunger for creative work, backed by solid strategic thinking. We at Raymond wish them good luck."
Rakesh Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer, Piramal Realty, added, "Raj and his team understand our need to break clutter and have been working tirelessly with us to create an iconic real estate brand. Innovation is absolutely critical in a category as crowded as ours, so we are glad that we will be seeing more innovative ideas from the agency.”
