Asianet is all set to telecast the 'Ujala Asianet Film Awards 2014' on January 25-26, 2014 at 6.30 PM. The 16th Ujala-Asianet Film Awards 2014 were given away in a glittering function held recently at Meydan Hotels & Grand Stand, Dubai. 25,000 strong crowds witnessed the show. Several prominent persons from the film industry and socio-cultural spheres were present on the occasion.

Asianet Managing Director K.Madhavan presented the International Icon of Indian Cinema award to the King Khan of Indian Cinema, Shah Rukh Khan .Mollywood Superstars Mohan Lal and Mammootty also honoured King Khan for his outstanding contributions to Indian Film Industry.

The event was attended by a cross section of stars from South Indian film industry and have colourful programmes performed by leading Malayalam artistes along with a mix of stars from tollywood & bollywood. Anoop Menon, Saikumar, Rehman, Manoj K. Jayan, Maniyan Pillai Raju, Mamukoya, Jagadheesh, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vineeth Sreenivasan, KPAC Lalitha, Priyamani, Lakshmi Rai, Menaka Suresh Kumar, Bindhu Panicker are some of the personalities who attend the function.

'Drisyam' won the award for the best film, which was accepted by its producer Antony Perumbavoor & Director Jithu Joseph and Lijo Jose Pellissery won the award for the best director for the movie 'Amen'. Super Star Mohan Lal honoured with the Star of the Millennium Award for his outstanding performance in various fields. Mammootty won the best actor award for his role in 'Emmanuel and Amala Paul' for the best female actress for the film 'Oru Indian Pranaya Kadha'. Actor Prithwi Raj& Actress Namitha Pramodl was on hand to collect the popular awards for her outstanding performance in various movies.

Others who won awards include Innocent (Asianet Life Time Achievement Award),  Kamal Hassan (Popular Tamil Actor), Dulquer Salmann (Youth Icon of the Year), Nedumudi Venu (best character artiste- male), Meena (best character artiste-female), Siddique (best Supporting Actor), Asha Sarath (best supporting actress), Kalabhavan Shajon (best villain), Biju Menon (best actor in a comic role) and Nivin Pauly -Nazriya (best star couple). Prasanth Pillai (music director), Vijay Yesudas (playback singer- male), Mridula Warrier (playback singer-female), Master Sanoop (child artiste),  debut artistes Dhyan Sreenivasan & Keerthy Suresh Kumar and Kunchacko Boban & Prathap POthan (Special Jury award) .
