RBNL appoints Lavneesh Gupta as COO as Anand Chakravarthy quits

Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd (RBNL) today announced a key appointment at the top level, with Lavneesh Gupta coming on board as Chief Operating Officer for RBNL's television business. As part of his new portfolio, Gupta will be responsible for building on consumer insights to create robust content and marketing strategies and drive channel performance. He will report to Tarun Katial, CEO of RBNL.

Significantly, Gupta comes in at a time when Anand Chakravarthy has quit RBNL, according to the informed sources. Big CBS Network had appointed Chakravarthy as Business Head in August last year. Associated with RBNL since its inception, Chakravarthy was in charge of overall P&L and brand development for the joint venture's English channels portfolio, viz., Big CBS Prime, Big CBS Love and Big CBS Spark. Chakravarthy was also Chief Marketing Officer of RBNL.

An IIT graduate, Gupta is excited about his new innings in the Media & Entertainment industry. He believes that the industry will grow at a good pace in terms of its compounded annual growth rate during the next few years and there will be ample opportunities for learning and growth. Over the last 16 years, Gupta has worked across leading brands in the BFSI industry ranging from Standard Chartered Bank, ABN AMRO and Tata AIG to Max Life and IndusInd Bank. His experience is varied across the treasury, credit, corporate banking, product management, strategy and retail & wealth management sales.

Gupta's last assignment prior to joining RBNL was with IndusInd Bank as Executive Vice-President & Head, Bancassurance and New Branch Distribution. He was responsible for the life and general insurance revenues across 500 branch outlets and the overall P&L of 150 new branches, which were launched during the last financial year.
