Gaurav Banerjee, Executive Vice-President, Content Strategy, Star India, will soon take over as General Manager of Star Plus, the position which was vacated by Nachiket Pantvaidya in September 2013.

The development was confirmed by highly placed sources in the industry. BestMediaInfo.com has also learnt that Star India will make an official announcement in a couple of days.

It may be recalled that Pantvaidya was appointed General Manager for Star Plus after the departure of Nitin Vidya, Cluster Head for Hindi Channels of Star India, in July 2012. Both Vidya and Pantvaidya held their positions for a little over one year.

Studied at St Stephen's and MCRC, Jamia, Gaurav joined Aaj Tak in 2000. He was the anchor for the war room that covered the Afghan war and elections. He then joined Star News and anchored the 9 pm news and was the executive editor of prime time news. He was also responsible for the launch of Star Ananda which was a big success from day one. He set up Star's regional channels and took Jalsha to no. 1

Gaurav came to Star Plus in Oct 2009 and played a pivotal role in shaping content around "Rishta Wahi Soch Nayi" theme.

In his previous role at Star India, Gaurav helped shape content strategy for Life Ok in addition to Star Plus where he developed shows like Mahadev, Diya aur Baati Hum and Sasural Genda Phool.
