Colors adds 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' to weekend line-up

Produced and hosted by renowned comedian Kapil Sharma, the show premieres on June 22 and will be telecast every Saturday &Sunday at 10 PM

Colors has added a comedy show to its weekend line-up with 'Comedy Nights with Kapil'. Renowned actor-comedian Kapil Sharma for the first time will be producing his own show while donning the hat of a scriptwriter and actor simultaneously. Starting June 22, the show will air on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 PM.

Commenting on the launch, Manisha Sharma, Weekend Programming Head, Colors, said, “With the launch of 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' we are extending our comedy band which will amplify the entertainment quotient of our programming lineup on weekends. Kapil's strong hold on the genre, his infectious humour and this new variant of comedy got us excited and we're happy to present this concept with him.”

Providing a distinctive take on everyday life of a common man, the show explores the story of every household and how the common man is affected by the simplest issues in life around him. The show boasts of a talented cast portraying various roles like the diva wife Mrs Sharma played by Sumona Chakravarti, the meddlesome, filmy Daadi played by actor Ali Asgar, the unmarried eccentric Bua played by Upasana Singh, comedy artist Naseem Vicky playing the annoying servant while talented theatre actor and comedian Sunil Grover dons several unconventional characters throughout the series.

Adding to this blockbuster family will be none other than the Master of Entertainment, Navjot Singh Sidhu, playing Kapil's friend and confidante who enjoys Kapil's household banter. He will be seen giving Kapil some solutions to his problems while engaging him in the ultimate war of words. This explosive combination of Kapilisms and Sidhuisms will definitely keep viewers hooked.

Comedy Nights with Kapil is an amalgamation of participative and interactive comedy; where Sharma ji will be seen interacting with a live set of audiences. In the launch week Kapil Sharma and his 'tedhi-medhi' family will quiz and indulge with celebrity guests like Dharmendra, Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi in rib-tickling laughter sessions.

Speaking on his production debut, Kapil Sharma said, “I am thankful to Colors for giving me this opportunity and providing me with such a big canvas for my creative ideas. The USP of the show is the interactive setting where I get to engage a live set of audiences.  Making people laugh is an addiction for me and with a topical script and a great ensemble cast we hope to bring to the audiences a show they can sit back and enjoy.”

Talking about his participation in the show, Navjot Singh Sidhu said, “I have worked with Kapil earlier and it feels great to be back together and I am enjoying every minute of the show. The show offers a comic take on problems of a common man and I will be seen providing my two bits in his eccentric family opinions.”
