Today is 19th June and three days have already gone by since the Cannes Lions Festival kicked off. And I have just checked into my apartment at the MMV Resort & Spa, Cannes-Mandelieu. Yup, I have just arrived in town with one of our Group Creative Directors, NavinTheeng.

It's noon, but Navin will have to wait till two to get his room. His charm didn't work on the young French girl down at the front desk. So I made him a cup of Darjeeling - I'm carrying about 50 teabags because I'm not much of a coffee person.

While we might have missed the excitement of the first couple of days, I can't wait to see and experience whatever is still left. Humbling craft, inspiring ideas and eye-opening insights made even more awesome by people who are harnessing technology to connect with that one consumer – that's the mouthful I am expecting to be hit by in an hour or two.

Tomorrow we're meeting our colleagues from the Cheil network for lunch where I expect quite a bit of celebrating for the network's wins including the first ever Innovations Lions Grand Prix, bagged by our friends at The Barbarian Group.

Of course, that also means we just missed the session with Lou Reed tomorrow. Win some, lose some.
