Pilani Soft Labs, the company behind redBus bus ticketing service, has enlisted LK Gupta, formerly Chief Marketing Officer of LG Electronics India, to chart out their next stage of growth enabled by consumer marketing.

Gupta, who spent five years at LG rebuilding the brand to improve the aspirational quotient of LG, is no stranger to the digital world, having set up and executed the digital marketing blueprint for LG in the last few years besides leading brand campaigns, CRM and insight-based marketing initiatives.

Said Gupta of his new role, “Clearly, e-commerce and digital marketing are the next major frontiers that will spur consumer acquisition, engagement and retention,” said Gupta. “There's tremendous potential in the growing but still largely unorganized bus ticketing market. redBus is ideally poised to be the category defining brand, and this is an exciting phase of the industry for a marketer to add value.”

Pilani Soft Labs, a Bangalore based company, currently boasts of an inventory from 1,200 bus operators and the company has already sold more than 10 million tickets since its inception six years ago, and currently sells six lakh tickets monthly.
