The aim of the channel is to provide quality and unbiased news coverage to the people of Karnataka. In the span of one year since its launch, the channel has become a major player in the Kannada regional news genre.

The Karnataka market is very small and cluttered with many players across all genres. Public YV's success can be attributed to quality of content and trustworthiness of the channel. A year ago, the channel had implemented a novel model and the same has been accepted by professionals.

HR Ranganath, Chairman & MD, Public TV, said, “We are now planning to start a new music channel because currently there are only two Kannada music channels in Karnataka. We will exclusively target the youth. We have a very strong content base already. We have 5,000 hours of music library, where 70 per cent of the songs are film songs.”

Ranganath attributes the success of the channel to its “unique editorial positioning, interactive and independent news coverage, complementing programmes and complete team effort.”  The channel has planned a series of new programmes as part of its anniversary specials.

In the near future, Public TV will work towards upgrading the look and feel of the channel with new programming initiatives. “We are geared to face challenges of digitalisation and move the channel to the DTH platform,” Ranganath said.

Arun Kumar, CEO, Public TV, confirmed that the channel aims to be very close to the hearts of the people across Karnataka. “The channel has been focussed on its team strength and growth, initiating new processes and inducting latest technology. Public TV is an established market leader and has been consistent with its GRP growth,” he said.
