Colors Screen Awards to welcome next 100 years of Indian Cinema

Colors has announced the launch of the 19th Annual Colors Screen Awards, a platform that honours professional excellence in the Indian film industry. The Awards will telecast on January 19 at 8 PM.

This year will see the awards embrace the new generation of talent in Bollywood heralding a new wave of thinking that will have the potential to chart the story of the next 100 years of India Cinema. To mark 100 years of Indian Cinema and the start of the new generation would be Ranbir Kapoor who would showcase his tribute to Bollywood along with his mother and veteran actor Neetu Singh.

Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors, said, “If last year was about celebrating 100 years of India Cinema, 2013 is the beginning of the next 100 years. I am delighted to present the Colors Screen Awards 2013, the first awards in the country in the New Year. The Colors Screen Awards is a celebration of Indian Cinema when the entire film fraternity comes together as one happy family to celebrate and partake in each other's success. I am positive that audiences will enjoy the show this year as we capture the best of Bollywood talent and complement it with entertaining performances.”

This year will witness a creative stage set-up and stars performing around the theme of being 'magical'. The property will be promoted through a multi-media mix including OOH, digital, print, television and radio. Nayak said about the marketing, “We spend a lot of money on all our properties and this property being the first and the biggest, we would definitely promote it extensively through all mediums. However, our primary focus would be promoting the awards on television for which the promos will be telecast on 30 to 40 stations.”

Priyanka Sinha Jha, Editor of Screen, said, “Over the years the Screen Awards have recognised excellence in Hindi and Marathi cinema in the fields of acting, direction, sound, choreography, music and scripting. This year will see the Awards embrace the new generation of talent in Bollywood, encouraging a new wave of thinking that will have the potential to chart the story of next 100 years of Indian cinema.”

Commenting on his association with Colors Screen Awards, Ranbir Kapoor said, “It's a moment of pride and honour for me to represent Bollywood in all its glory. I belong to a family that has served Bollywood for 84 years, and I hope to take this legacy forward.”

The Colors Screen Awards will be hosted by Shahrukh Khan and will witness performances by Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhat, Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.
